The site is some way off the main road but well worth the effort as you are surrounded by nature and away from the noise of "civilisation". There is a reasonable amount of birdlife around and some wallabies. You sleep in a permanent tent on stilts with en suite shower and toilet. The managers were charming and the evening meal had a generous supply of meat and lots of real vegetables, a welcome change from the ubiquitous and boring side salad. We stayed at the lodge for one night. In the evening, we canoed around the lake, then we got a free drink, then barbequed ourselves for dinner. We decided not to have dinner there because of the extra price. The next morning, we went for a 1.5 walk to another lagoon, but unfortunately, we could not use the bird hide because of a wasp's nest. As keen birders, we would have wished to see more birds, but we did see many interesting ones. We also found the lodge overpriced, so we would suggest perhaps decreasing the price to stay if possible. We were upgraded to a better room, which we were very pleased about (thank you!!). The facilities in the room were basic, but all that we needed was there.

“Birding visit”

The safari tents are very good in the African style but come without the service you get in Africa. Bird life was a little disappointing but birds come and go. We did photograph some lifers. Other places in the area were more productive for birds. Food was very good and we were pleased we visited.

We stayed three nights here on our road trip. The place has 5 tents, each with a double and a single bed, with en suite (outside) toilet and shower. We stayed three nights here on our road trip. The place has 5 tents, each with a double and a single bed, with en suite (outside) toilet and shower. We mistakenly booked an 'eco' tent, instead of a 'deluxe' tent as we mixed up the pics. But the eco tents have NO electricity - only 12v bedside lamps. Also there is no gas fridge in the room either as stated, only an 'eski' - a large insulated tub with bottles of frozen water to keep it cold. Breakfast is not served in the main lodge as stated, but you order what you want the night before and it is delivered to your tent to have in the morning on your deck. the breakfast is substantial and well thought out. However, because there was no electricity we had to boil the kettle on the gas bbq, which took about 20 minutes! We would have preferred a 'deluxe' tent and the owners very kindly gave us a complimentary upgrade when another couple unexpectedly left earlier than planned. Those tents do have electricity, and are closer to the centre, and have a fridge! The wildlife was great when we were there. The first set of emu chicks was born while we were there and there were 5 of them running about all over the place! Also the swallow chicks, which nest in the Lodge rafters, fledged while we were there too, and we watched them take their first flight and bump into each other! Sadly a snake that lives in a nook in the rafters ate two of them while we were there! We had the B&B option as we had our own lunch provisions, and paid for dinner on each night we were there. This is preceded by a complimentary glass of wine and nibbles, when you get to meet the other guests. The hosts that run the Lodge were a charming couple who looked after us wonderfully. If you are after a close encounter with wildlife this is one of the best places we have stayed in; however, I now realise I am not cut out for camping...;-)
