“GREAT location, food & staff”

What a GREAT LOCATION!!! We couldn't beat the location...just across from Paddington Station. Pub and hotel staff were pleasant at all times. Great food and beer too! The room was large for British standards - nice towels and shower too. Beware that you may hear/feel the trains below you though.

its a great place to stay, very convenient, rooms and beds are great, cost for LOndon superb. friendly and always met with a smile, very good breakfast too which are good value.

I was disappointed to find that I was 56 steps up a winding staircase with my luggage and shopping. I did have help when checking in, but had to move my luggage down in stages on departure. I was disappointed to find that I was 56 steps up a winding staircase with my luggage and shopping. I did have help when checking in, but had to move my luggage down in stages on departure. The room was soulless . A postcard on the desk showed a beautifully designed room, my room had no pictures, no headboard, a stool instead of a chair. There was no coffee machine and the kettle corner needed extra lighting. The shower is claustrophobic, a man would struggle in this! I have stayed at 3 other Young's pubs with rooms, mostly The Almer. I booked POP for that reason. On this occasion I was travelling solo and felt I knew the brand well enough to be confident that I would feel safe and welcomed. The staff were welcoming but the room wasn’t. Sadly I would not return to POP.

First—the good stuff: The roast potatoes were the absolute crispiest I’ve ever had and yet still soft and lovely inside. The pub is clean (I didn’t use the restroom so can’t comment on that) and the service is swift and friendly. I had the vegan Sunday roast. It was OK. The roast vegetables were absolutely the star of the meal. The mushroom Wellington was OK, but the pastry was a bit soggy and underdone. The Yorkshire pudding was also soggy on the bottom and rather tasteless. I would try this pub again, but I wouldn’t bother with the Sunday roast. Portions are certainly large. A big plus is that they have a screen from Paddington Station with the train information. And it’s not too loud.
