In the old part of Cartagena hotels are charming but expensive. At this hotel all your needs will be met and you won’t pay a lot. You will have to take 15 minute taxi rides to go into the center of town but beyond that you will like your situation. The rooms are clean, mattresses super comfortable and a good breakfast is included. The staff is helpful and friendly - so is the owner. We were very pleased with our stay and would recommend it to travelers who appreciate a good hotel “out of the fray”.

A really nice hotel ! All the team was really helpful and kind, the atmosphere is really nice. The facilities are really amazing, the Jacuzzi and the bar are just stunning with the view on the city.The food is really good and affordable. Just a short ride outside of the touristic area which was really nice as Cartagena center is way too much touristic ... I totally recommend this hotel which is 10 minutes ride by car from the center for 2 reasons. First, service is great and really great food at the restaurant. I totally recommend this hotel which is 10 minutes ride by car from the center for 2 reasons. First, service is great and really great food at the restaurant. Second, great value for money in rather expensive city of Cartagena. The only downside is that rooms are small (not big enough for 2 persons). There are some decent restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. There is also a nightclub that was deserted when I visited it. The area is pretty safe even at night.

I really wanted to give more stars to the Hotel Buenos Aires Avenida in Cartagena. In isolation, this is a great hotel. Super simple, super clean, super friendly. The staff is lovely. I really wanted to give more stars to the Hotel Buenos Aires Avenida in Cartagena. In isolation, this is a great hotel. Super simple, super clean, super friendly. The staff is lovely. The room is smallish but good plain and clean. Same for the bathroom. The hotel restaurant serves a good breakfast. Not many choices but you get a fruit juice (real), a few menu choices, some fruits, and coffee (somewhat disappointing coffee considering we are in Colombia). Lunch and dinner are also served there, and the food is quite good, and at a good price. All and all, everything is great with this simple hotel, except three things that are, in my view very misleading in the reviews I read: - internet is not reliable as many have said. A fairly minor point, I agree. - there is no hot water. there is cold, and something between cold and tepid. I don't know what that is called, but it ain't hot. And the argument that it is hot as hell in Cartagena (true) is meaningless, since the AC is great, so the room temperature is about 23. Nevertheless, the water is adequate, just don't call it hot. - but the big thing against the hotel is the location. It is not 10 minutes from the historic center. In fact, given the traffic, not even the historic center is 10 minutes from itself. The area is ok, very safe, but it is like an industrial suburb, roughly about 30 minutes away. Coming back is easier, but dealing with taxis (no meter) or Uber (very patchy coverage) is an unnecessary stress. Plus you have to plan your day, because coming back for a quick nap, or shower, or whatever, and then going for dinner simply does not work. I really liked the hotel and the people there, but I think the point of reviews is to help others, so I want people to have the full facts. For a first time tourist I would not recommend staying there. For anyone else it is a safe bet with the above caveats.
