“Comfortable stay but…”

Our stay at the Shangri-La Yangzhou was brief but comfortable overall. We occupied two rooms on the 12th floor, both offering pleasant views of the lake. As expected from the Shangri-La brand, the hotel was clean and well maintained, with spacious guest rooms, comfortable beds, and an indoor swimming pool that our daughter thoroughly enjoyed. Although we did not purchase the breakfast package, we dined at the hotel’s Michelin-recognized restaurant. We ordered the rainbow Tang Bao buns, traditional steamed buns, and several other dishes. While the atmosphere was quiet and relaxing, the food unfortunately did not meet our expectations. The hotel’s location is convenient, with easy access to nearby shopping malls and the Yangzhou Art Museum. However, the property is beginning to show its age and would benefit from a renovation. The bathrooms, in particular, felt dated, with scratched fixtures and furnishings, while some closets and drawers were difficult to open and close. What truly stood out during our stay was the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff, who consistently provided warm and professional service. Overall, we had a pleasant stay, but the hotel did not quite live up to the high standards we typically associate with the Shangri-La brand.

Stayed in this hotel near the End-Of-Year period of 2025. Gym was great, a pity it only operates from 6am-11pm. The health club would be better if it operates beyond 11pm (24hours) as tourists will usually be out during the day. Even the concierge service closes at 11pm and the rest are covered by… lisää

Stayed in this hotel near the End-Of-Year period of 2025. Gym was great, a pity it only operates from 6am-11pm. The health club would be better if it operates beyond 11pm (24hours) as tourists will usually be out during the day. Even the concierge service closes at 11pm and the rest are covered by the front desk/duty managers. Hotel location was centrally located, close to a large shopping mall and has a view of the Mingyue lake as well. The hotel itself is also surrounded by a small lake, which adds to the charm of the hotel itself. Breakfast service: Spread was poor, slow refills, little to no attention by staff - understaffed Horizon lounge: severely understaffed, slow refills, limited space Hotel lobby/rooms: The hotel is branded as a non-smoking hotel, but we still faced a few instances where people are smoking in the restaurant/lobby up to their rooms. Even if it is a culture thing, the hotel, which is a 5 star hotel, could do better by having more staff to manage people and enforce stricter rules for such occurrences. Also, I faced an issue with the room and had reported it to the staff. The matter was addressed quickly and service recovery was performed as well. Thank you Ivy! In summary, the hotel itself is great, with exceptional service by the front desk/duty & floor managers, but is crippled by the very poor breakfast, lounge service as well as smoking instances we faced in the hotel itself. Would recommend to consider other properties if you are looking to stay in Yangzhou.
