“Great hotel - even potable water”

The rooms were comfortable and well laid-out. It’s the only hotel I’ve ever seen in China with a potable water spigot. They also supplied bottled water. The breakfast had a good mix of both Chinese and Western food. They even had donuts. On the 2nd morning, I had to leave before the breakfast area opened. A my Chinese friend’s mother had them prepare a breakfast to go. They were very generous with the amount of food they gave me. The room’s rug was a little dirty, but otherwise the room was clean. The only problem I had was with the power. As with many Chinese hotels, you insert your room card to activate power to the room. It worked the very 1st time, but after that I couldn’t get it to work. A manager came up to my room and showed how to jam the card in to get it to work. However, about a minute after he left, it shut off again. Fortunately, there was just enough ambient light for me to make it to the door (it was disconcerting). I realized I had to jam 2 cards in in order to keep the power on. Hence, if you stay here, ask for 2 room cards. I spoke with the staff in both English and Chinese and their English skills seemed good. My room's Wifi worked without a problem. I slept very well in the room.

Beautiful lobby and rooms. Luxurious bath towels and linens. Front desk clerk speaks English. This is a very nice hotel. Just completed construction in 2012, I hear. The only demerit points I give are because only the lobby has wi-fi, not the rooms; and because the lobby bar lists a Singapore … lisää

Beautiful lobby and rooms. Luxurious bath towels and linens. Front desk clerk speaks English. This is a very nice hotel. Just completed construction in 2012, I hear. The only demerit points I give are because only the lobby has wi-fi, not the rooms; and because the lobby bar lists a Singapore Sling on their cocktail menu, but none of the bartenders knows how to make it. Also, as I have found at all other restaurants on our trip thus far, I cannot buy wine by the glass. It is only sold by the bottle. I suppose they don't get enough customers for wine to justify opening a bottle for one person. Oh well, I guess I'll have to stick to "ergoutou" (Chinese vodka -- very strong). I didn't know that breakfast was included when I booked my room. This was a pleasant surprise; and it turns out to be a full buffet, Chinese and western style breakfast, not just a few plain rolls and fruit!
