“it was a woderfull stay”

we were very satisfied with everything at shangrila al bandar. we especialy praise worker Niduk. The room was always in perfect order and there was a nice decoration of towels on the bed,which we always looked forward to. Magdalena and peter from slovakia

“3rd visit, wonderful experience”

We had room 3460 which has a sea view over the palm trees of the lazy river from the balcony. The hotel is in an amazing location (recommend hiring a kayak and paddling under the arch way) and enjoyed swimming in the zoned off area. We had room 3460 which has a sea view over the palm trees of the lazy river from the balcony. The hotel is in an amazing location (recommend hiring a kayak and paddling under the arch way) and enjoyed swimming in the zoned off area. It’s good that one on the pools near Circles is a quiet area now for over 16s. Breakfast outside was a great way to start the day and the buffet has everything you could wish for. We went on a dolphin trip with the Extra Divers Centre and a trip to the Damaniyat Islands with Oman Sea Tours and saw dolphins and turtles. We visited this beach before the hotel was built and hope they continue conservation work to protect the turtles. This was our 3rd visit and it didn’t disappoint in any way, the location is amazing and staff are charming.

Stayed in Al Waha, very family friendly, not suitable for older kids. Stayed during Eid holidays so the hotel was very busy. Stayed in Al Waha, very family friendly, not suitable for older kids. Stayed during Eid holidays so the hotel was very busy. Lunch at circles, credit to Robert the manager who dealt with a very difficult situation. Lunch at Assira Bar highly recommend! Food and service excellent! Amila, gave us great service, with a smile everyday! Dinner in Sultanah and Aangan both highly recommended! Room Service was excellent! Bim Sara kept our room immaculate! This is a perfect holiday destination for young families! Plenty of pools, Sea and Sand for everyone!

“Beautiful resort, appalling service!!”

This was our first holiday after more than a year, so we were so excited! My husband, toddler and I recently stayed from the 7th - 12th April. We have stayed at Shangri La in Thailand and Singapore before, and so were very much looking forward to this stay, knowing the level of service we received at these hotels. While the resort itself is beautiful (albeit rooms are dated - they definitely need a renovation) and good facilities for kids - the level of service we received at this hotel was appalling. The staff were simply not trained to a 5* level. 1) The valet staff at the entrance did not once open the car door for us or help us with our bags and pram etc. They stood by and watched us struggle loading & unloading each time we went in and out of the hotel (our son is 16 months old so we generally had a lot of things). I have never experienced this at any other hotel, even 3-4* hotels. 2) The staff around the resort knew nothing about the facilities and layout of the resort. At one time, we asked someone if there was a shop / supermarket on site and they directed us towards one end of the resort. We eventually realised there was no shop! Another time we asked about baby changing facilities and were told there were none (despite there being several around the resort). Other times we’d ask a question and the staff would just stare at us blankly. 3) the circle cafe we had lunch at often didn’t have a highchair available - and the staff didn’t even offer to bring one from another restaurant - despite this being a family hotel. I saw this happen to many other families too, with many families getting frustrated. 4) At Al Tanoor, the breakfast restaurant, we got asked to move to a smaller table, quite rudely, by the hostess - despite us needing a bigger table as our baby just grabs everything on a smaller table and it’s dangerous. 5) the hotel is very impersonal - despite us staying for 5 days - nobody knew our name or greeted us by name - something which you would get at other Shangri La properties and for sure at other 5* hotels I’ve stayed in 6) I saw several kids with a toy turtle provided by the hotel - when I asked reception about this - they said I had to request this from housekeeping and they ‘don’t give it to everyone’. In the end, I had to ask a few times before getting one for my son - and it wasn’t clear why we weren’t provided one in the first place 7) we had dinner one night at the Samba restaurant and the food was bad - not up to standard at all If you want good service - go to the Ritz instead!!
