“Good value and convenient for a one night stay”

We booked this hotel specifically for the convenience - we arrived past midnight from the Vueling flight to Santiago and wanted somewhere not too far which we could check into late before getting a lift down next day to Baiona to our starting point on the Camino. The hotel is very reasonably priced and was on the route to Baiona so was exactly what we needed. Great for a night, hence the 4 stars (and the lady on reception was very friendly and helpful), breakfast was adequate, but I wouldn't want to stay there for a whole holiday. We felt strangely nostalgic when we walked past it again 6 days later !

This is a large hotel a few Km north of town, too far to walk to in the evening. We were walking the Camino and having walked through Padron to get to the Hotel Scala we felt there was no need to return to the town. The hotel room was clean and the bed comfortable. The dinner that evening was very satisfying and the buffet breakfast the following morning had all the usual items and was all we required. The swimming pool looked inviting but we had insufficient time to use it

“Not for Sleeping”

Poor acoustics. Bad night's sleep. Hotel had music on during the afternoon and staff were setting up the breakfast room late at night. Really noisy, poor attitude from staff towards this too. Hotel is well located on the Camino but you also need sleep on Camino so not sure I would stay here agai... more

Poor acoustics. Bad night's sleep. Hotel had music on during the afternoon and staff were setting up the breakfast room late at night. Really noisy, poor attitude from staff towards this too. Hotel is well located on the Camino but you also need sleep on Camino so not sure I would stay here again. Room size good, shower was good, beds were comfortable, cafe/bar good (team on there were excellent, very nice guys), dinner was very good, the breakfast was below average.

The hotel has seen better days, but the price is reasonable for what is provided. We had a room which was much smaller than the picture and the walls were so thin we could hear everything next door, including the TV. The room had no view (just of the wall of another building) and the smell of cooking came in through the open window which was unpleasant for us. I think we were just unlucky with our room. Shower was good. We only stayed for one night and I would be disappointed if I had to stay longer. There were no vegetarian options on the menu for the bar or restaurant (surprising considering the size of the hotel) so we had to order a pizza from Padrón instead. If you are on the camino and arriving in the afternoon, it will do just fine and you get a slightly shorter last day which you'll be thankful for when you see the hills you are going to have to walk up to get to Santiago! Lots of luggage being left in the morning from various groups and trips and it seemed disorganised. We were told to store it in a room but there were cases everywhere and I was a bit concerned that ours would be missed but they weren't.
