We had a fantastic stay at the Riad Fatouma! Our rooms were on the ground floor, were a good size, and both opened onto the central dining area. The riad is in a great location, within the old medina walls and a 15-minute walk from the central souq and Badi palace. We felt like we were in the heart of the city and didn’t ever need to get a taxi. It’s also only a 5-minute walk from Cafe Clock where we had an Arabic calligraphy class. Like all places in Marrakesh, you need to pay a city tax when you arrive at the hotel. As two women in our thirties we both felt safe and comfortable both in the riad and walking in the local area. Keep your eyes peeled for mopeds though because they can brush by quite close! The riad has a nice rooftop - a wonderful place to hear the beautiful imams’ calls to prayer. We opted for breakfast and dinner prepared at the riad and we were really glad that we did - each morning we had traditional crepes with honey, butter/cream, jam, and black olives, with fresh orange juice and lovely mint tea or coffee too! These breakfasts were prepared with love by Fatima, who was really friendly and kind - on the days when we needed to leave early for a day trip, she prepared a bag of packed breakfast for us. Dinner each day was usually a gorgeous fresh tagine made by Mohamed, who is a star and speaks English, Arabic and French. We loved his tagine so much that Mohamed offered to show us how to make it, and so we spent a lovely evening with him one day preparing our own tagine pots! Thanks Mohamed! Mohamed also gave us great advice about getting out and about in Marrakesh, including how to haggle and how to avoid being asked to pay for random tours/directions from strangers. He also arranged a hammam experience for us at a local place, which was great because we really wanted this experience but weren’t sure where to go. We are both learning Arabic in the UK and Mohamed was patient and encouraging with our broken Arabic, and even taught us some Moroccan dialect too! Mohamed went out of his way to make our stay brilliant - making us mint tea, chatting with us, providing bottled water, and generally being a friendly, warm and lovely person! :)

“Lovely traditional Riad with a great host”

The riad is very traditional, clean tucked nicely at the bottom of the Kasbah area. Nice and quiet but easy walk to the lively squares and attractions. The riad is very traditional, clean tucked nicely at the bottom of the Kasbah area. Nice and quiet but easy walk to the lively squares and attractions. Bathroom was a basic shower, sink and toilet, clean with soap, shampoo and towels provided. Beds were very firm.Rooftop terrace with both shaded and sunny sides. We stsyed half board and the breakfasts were again traditional and the dinners were lovely tagines and a dessert. Mohamed was a wonderful host and even though we were there during Ramadam, still nothing was a problem or too much trouble. Thankyou Mohamed for making our stay comfortable, easy and friendly.

Absolutely loved our stay, we felt very welcome, we were met from our transfer by the lovely manager Mohamed who gave very useful information and booked us our lovely excursion, he was friendly and always willing to help with any questions we had, yes the room was small, but we went to explore so spent minimal time in our room, but we slept very well and all our needs were met, the breakfast was amazing and more than enough to set us up for the day, we were helped with directions and supplied with a map and information on places to visit, we would definitely stay here again, thank you Mohamed x

“Nice riad with amazing atmosphere ☺️”

Received by Mohamed, who is very kind, helpful, discreet, reassuring, and gives good advice. Highly recommended for anyone who needs spent time in nice locations. Riad maybe don’t look like 5 star hotels but it’s very comfortable and you will feel like in home. I definitely come back ☺️
