Spent three nights here - it's in a quiet location about ten minutes walk from the centre with easy on site parking. The place is made up of a number of large self catering apartments around a courtyard garden. Very old building, slightly worn but in a way that gives it plenty of charm and character, but very clean where it matters - bed, shower etc. Good a/c, dead quiet at night, overall a great place to stay if you want to avoid the generic 'Eurotel' type of place.

I have stayed one night here on two occasions, both times in the same high ceilinged room with large bathroom, room 32 as far as I recall. It is true that the Residence is well hidden away but its lovely courtyard (with off street parking too) makes up for that, as does its nearness to the centre... more

I have stayed one night here on two occasions, both times in the same high ceilinged room with large bathroom, room 32 as far as I recall. It is true that the Residence is well hidden away but its lovely courtyard (with off street parking too) makes up for that, as does its nearness to the centre of Mantua. Though totally uncorporate - the reception isn't always staffed and breakfast only appears to be available at weekends - the place has a definite charm. You can of course provide your own breakfast since the rooms have kettles, a hob and fridge. A snag at night: mosquitoes if you open the window, so since one does not normally see flyscreens in Europe, a plugin insect repeller might help.

Ever watched with envy how people open double gates - one a massive wooden, then an iron one - with their keys and enter beautiful italian inner yards? After hotels in other cities we got this opportunity in Mantova, having booked this residence. A cosy green inner yard, country house-type rooms are clean. A very quiet place in the city center right near Chiesa di San Maurizio (you see it from your room). You don't have to ask for Wifi passwords every day (we stayed for 3 nights) so you don't depend on reception working hours. Unfortunately, if you arrive on Sunday you have to check in before 12-30. If you miss this deadline (they resolutely warn you!) - apparently" no pasaran" until Monday (we managed to get there in time) - that's not nice.. Besides, if you ask for a map they recommend that you go to the Tourist Center somewhere and get it. Meanwhile they'll give you some A4 printout with no specifics on infographics.
