“Fantastic week, don't hesitate to book.”

Stayed here 30 September for 1 week. Really impressed with the entire hotel and the staff too from start to finish. I requested a top floor room and was given one. I did pay extra for the sea view though. The food was brilliant. Breakfast was from 8am, buffet style and there was so much choice including Cava if you fancied it. Dinner was 4 courses with a selection of each and served from 8pm. Waiting staff were lovely and so efficient. There are lifts to all floors and a mini bus available if you need it. We had to request it to take us back to the small bus station in the town centre to get our coach transfer back to the airport. There were lots of beds around the pool which was so clean as was the jacuzzi. We went onto the beach most days which is so close by. Be aware the sun beds and brollies are 7.50 euros each. There is quite a steep hill from the road up to the hotel so bear this in mind if you have mobility problems. Tossa is a gorgeous small town with a maze of streets and lovely shops to wander around. The castle is amazing and well worth the walk to the top. There is a little train if you would rather ho on that. Don't hesitate to book.

As a couple we thoroughly recommend both this hotel and the seaside resort of Tossa de Mar. We stayed for a week, half board, and had a lovely time in both the hotel and the surrounding area. We travelled with Jet2Holidays and stayed in a Junior Garden Suite (which included a large living room; a small kitchenette with sink, kettle and a fridge; and a limited sea view balcony). Half-board included either a four-course evening meal (20:00-22:00 hrs) or four course lunch (13:00-15:00 hrs) each with a choice of three dishes for each course. The food – every meal and every course – was excellent. Staff were so attentive that four courses often took less than 75 minutes. Breakfast was an extensive and regularly re-stocked buffet. I enjoyed my breakfast cava. Every member of staff did their best for us, even if some conversations were a little lost in translation. All reception, bar staff and waiting staff were always friendly and professional. The house-keeping was some of the best I have experienced in a hotel our beds and bathrooms were kept immaculate for us. Bathrobes and flipflops were complimentary. There was also a complimentary bottle of water on arrival and Friday’s evening meal included a complimentary glass of cava. The hotel provides a mini-bus service to the local bus station for holiday transfers and a breakfast box for early departures (both need to be booked the day before). Tourist coaches cannot access the hotel because of the narrow road and steep incline. It was great being able to just cross the road from the hotel for a swim in the sea. In fact the sea was warmer than the hotel pool. Tossa is more expensive and less commercialised than other coastal resorts, but you can still get a bargain in the local cafes, patisseries and bars compared to the hotels and sea front cafes. The castle is beautiful at all times of day and clearly visible from the hotel, as is the local beach just across the road. Tourist tips: Tossa de Mar is a bit isolated and any excursions are largely limited by having to travel to Lloret first (by bus 2.6 Euros or taxi 25 Euros). Tossa de Mar is unlike most of the other Costa Brava resorts – it is uncommercialised and English is not widely spoken. Take advantage of the local walks map for Tossa. We did walks 1 (3km – 1 hr) and 2 (6.6km – 2 hrs) although the latter took 3 hours and sensible walking shoes are a must for the steep climbs (and to avoid the sheer drops). We took a full day trip excursion to Rupit, El Far and Besalu, booked through Jet2, which cost over 60 Euros per person. A lovely day, but it took 10 hours rather than the advertised 8 hours and we were only in the three towns themselves for a combined 4 hours, the rest of the time (6 hours) was on the coach.

“Nice hotel with great views!”

We travelled to Tossa De Mar with Jet2 for a seven-night stay at the Gran Hotel Reymar. Upon arrival, the transfer coach dropped us off at Tossa’s bus station and instructed us to wait for the hotel’s minibus. The transfer Rep had promised its arrival, but without specifying a wait time, we began to wonder if it would arrive at all. After 40 minutes of waiting, I called the hotel, and the minibus arrived 10 minutes later. It didn’t seem that Jet2 had made the hotel aware of our arrival. We wanted to speak to the Jet2 hotel Rep regarding the minibus incident, as well as asking him about the resort. He had informed us via text that he would be in the hotel lobby at 9 am on Monday. However, it proved to be quite a challenge to find him; it was almost like a game of “Where’s Wally?” as he had positioned himself behind a large planter. It was as if he wished to avoid being seen! 🤭 His response to the minibus issue was disappointing. He claimed that Jet2 had no responsibility for the minibus’s reliability in picking up guests, stating, “Sometimes it picks guests up, and sometimes it doesn’t.” It didn’t say this on Jet2’s website, and it’s doubtful they would attract many bookings if it did. 🤔 On a positive note, the hotel offered fantastic views and the location was great! Our room was clean and modern with a big comfortable bed, but in hindsight, we wished we had booked a sea view. Unfortunately, our balcony overlooked the staff areas and the garden suites. The breakfast and bar staff, as well as the porters, were friendly. The housekeeping team was courteous and cleaned our rooms well. The hotel did have a few issues. Breakfast had limited vegetarian options, and our room lacked a ‘Welcome to the Gran Hotel Reymar’ handbook. Reception staff were unwelcoming, and the absence of pool/beach towels and room service was unexpected for a four-star hotel. We found only one English TV channel, and we even spotted a rat on the garden suite wall from our balcony. 🐀😬 In summary, our holiday was enjoyable and relaxing, but for us to consider a return to the Gran Hotel Reymar, we would want better customer service to English guests (as it appears they do for their Spanish and French guests), more breakfast choices, and amenities consistent with a four-star rating.

“Let down by Cheap and Nasty Furniture ”

Service, cleanliness, location etc are excellent. Really rated a 5 but for the 1 star furniture in reception and lounge areas. Service, cleanliness, location etc are excellent. Really rated a 5 but for the 1 star furniture in reception and lounge areas. The furniture in reception and 'lounge' areas is cheap and tasteless contemporary coloured plastic with formica topped tables. For a four star hotel I would expect much better quality furnishings. Maybe now that the season is ending, during the winter months the hotel could invest in some much better quality furnishings more in keeping with their four star superior status?
