My wife and I have recently returned from a 9 night break at Melia Costa Del Sol. I had booked a Level room which gave us access to an exclusive lounge and pool area and paying the extra proved well worth the money. Breakfast was much more relaxed and quiet compared to the main breakfast area in the hotel. During the course of the day a wide selection of snacks and drinks were available to Level clients and in the evening a variety of Tapas were provided for clients at no additional cost. Our room situated on the 9th floor had a lovely view over the sea and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. There was no bath in the bathroom only a shower and my only quibble was there was a slight smell of damp after the shower had been used. The facilities in the hotel are good with an excellent spa and gym and there was entertainment provided every night within the main bar area. The staff at reception desk, bar staff and spa staff were all professional, efficient and friendly. The main purpose of this review is to highlight the impeccable service provided to Level clients from Jazmin, Marta and Pilar. They were absolutely first class in their dealings with all Level clients and they were professional, friendly and an absolute credit to the company they work for. All 3 individuals were particularly empathetic, patient, kind and supportive with regard to a blind client who was using the Level area. They helped to seat him, talk to him, describe the menu to him and generally ensured he had a wonderful time. All 3 individuals deserve the highest praise for the manner in which they conducted themselves with all Level clients during our stay but it was also noticeable that they interacted well with all their colleagues within the Level area encompassing Waiting staff, Chefs, Pool staff etc. I would also like to specifically mention Jazmin who has excellent leadership and interpersonal skills as well as being able to speak 4 languages. Jazmin has an ability to put people at their ease and is efficient and from my perspective was always striving to ensure that Level clients were well looked after. From my own Corporate background I recognise star quality when I see it and I hope that Melia understand what a huge asset they have in Jasmin. In my view she should be fast tracked onto a Senior Management programme and Marta and Pilar also have the skills to go to reach a senior management level.

“Great time”

Perfect location, Beautiful room, staff was very friendly and helpful. Easy walk to beach, about 30 seconds just across the street. Very bountiful breakfast. Lots to choose from. I would definitely go back again.

“Decent but teething issues”

A decent hotel but with quite a few teething problems. We had quite a few maintenance issues in our room which included the AC vent leaking, leaving a large puddle in the room, the spotlight in the bathroom leaking (dangerous electrical fault) and the panel holding up the bathroom vent also came off and was hanging down in the middle of the night (a near miss to the head when using the toilet upon discovery). The issues were reported to reception and were dealt with. The hotel consists of two blocks interconnecting at the ground floor. We were told the block with the main rooftop (accessible to everyone) is being refurbed so we would have to stay in the level block where the level rooftop lounge is located but we were unable to use this facility due to it only being for upgraded guests. This resulted in a few awkward trips from our room, all the way to the ground floor, strolling through the lobby and back up to the roof in the other block and repeat for the way back - which you can imagine is quite uncomfortable in swimwear. Not to mention the lifts are absolutely tiny and very rickety. Our request for an unobstructed sea view room for our grade was kindly accommodated and we spent a lot of time on the balcony watching the waves (albeit it was the side with no sunshine). The staff in general were nice enough but the breakfast staff were wonderful and very welcoming first thing in the morning. Good breakfast options, lots of choice. The hotel had entertainment every night which was nice to know. Also a very central beach location while also a stone’s throw from the markets and the main town. We enjoyed our stay minus the few hiccups, maybe venture to another Meliá in another destination as the facilities were good minus the bad timing of refurb works.

“Not very happy”

We arrived late in the hotel and the check in was good. When we arrived in the room we noticed that it was very warm and switched on the airco. We arrived late in the hotel and the check in was good. When we arrived in the room we noticed that it was very warm and switched on the airco. To my surprise the airco wasn’t working so I went back to the reception and learnt that the airco wasn’t working because it is to early in season. Huhhhhhh? You would think that the individual guest is supposed to decide if it’s to warm or not in his room. So now we sleep with the balcony door open and here late at night our neighbors chatting on the balcony and get there sigaretten smoke in the room. Yesterday we went to the beach club for a drink and we where refused to move 2 tables together because it’s the 4 of us. So we couldn’t sit together and left. I don’t know if this is the Spanish hospitality? We where thinking to come back in September again but I have my doubts now,,,,,,,,
