“Critical review: some great areas, and some areas to improve on.”

Disclaimer: My review is very critical, as I work at a hotel myself :) The good parts: - Amenities: Location is perfect, 5 stars. You can store bags with reception if you arrive early. 7th floor pool is good, can be crowded if you go at the busier times. The pool also has a bar. Gym facilities are adequate. Hotel parking is available. Did not have breakfast, so no comment on the restaurant or the bar. The hotel lobby is beautiful and smells fresh. - Friendly staff: explained to reception how it was my little brother's birthday, and we had a room on the 12th floor arranged by the time we returned to check in. Thank you to Elisa, Paulo and Santi, you were great, very friendly! The gentleman with curly ginger hair on night shift, I do not remember his name, was very helpful and informative. I got to extend my checkout time due to an afternoon flight. Again, the staff are all amazing. - Room cleanliness: Perfect. 5 stars. Well done to the housekeeping team. We also had a gorgeous view from our room. Room: Gorgeous. AC and TV worked perfectly. Minibar with plenty of snacks and drinks, working room telephone, and a sliding window for extra fresh air. Keep the window closed if you want the AC on. They are short stocked on iron/ironing boards, but if you ask nicely, staff would be happy to provide this to you. Hairdryer in the room, and you don't even need to bring your own shampoo/conditioner - the ones in the bathroom smell amazing. The areas to improve: - We were not told about the items in the fridge - I had a hunch they would not be free anyway, but would have been nice to have been informed. I guess it depends on what type of hotels you usually stay at, ended up paying on check out. - The pool ladder is sharp, ended up cutting my little brother's leg. We were the last in the pool, and called for first aid whilst I got my brother to hold pressure on the wound. Unfortunately, the gentleman who arrived to our aid said it was his 'first time' doing anything like this, so I'd suggest to managers ensuring that each shift has at least one person first aid qualified.

We were in Valencia for the first Ironman 70.3. The location is good, only half an hour walk to the port & central to other sightseeing locations, however the room we were given was terrible 1403. The smell was dreadful, at times quite stomach churning. The air con was no use at all. We asked reception if we could change rooms but not possible but a technician quickly arrived. Unfortunately nothing was fixed! I had to buy a small fan which not only cooled the room it made the smell more bearable! The wifi was also very hit & miss. Loved Valencia & will return but not to this hotel.
