“Comfortable and interesting hotel”

Very unusual hotel in an excellent location, with friendly and helpful staff. The whole “building” is a series of cobbled streets and courtyards surrounded by houses, all now adapted and refurbished to form rooms. It’s worth a visit in its own right just to walk through the winding passages or ... more

Very unusual hotel in an excellent location, with friendly and helpful staff. The whole “building” is a series of cobbled streets and courtyards surrounded by houses, all now adapted and refurbished to form rooms. It’s worth a visit in its own right just to walk through the winding passages or sit out on one of the patios. Both beautiful and atmospheric. They do serve breakfast here but otherwise there is no onsite restaurant - hardly a problem as it is literally surrounded my bars, cafes and restaurants. It is very central, just a few minutes walk from the cathedral and the monument quarter.

This is a unique and very quirky hotel, which we were delighted to stay in for two nights. It is so central, yet cool and quiet, thanks to its size and layout. Our room couldn't have been much further from reception and the breakfast area, and it took a few minutes to walk from A to B through a maze of underground tunnels and cool patios, sometimes getting lost - all part of the fun and experience, though not ideal for those with mobility issues. Our room was dark, cool and quiet, and well equipped, though the bed was rather soft and squeaky. Buffet breakfast is served underground, and worked well even though it was busy. The first member of staff we dealt with was Pablo (?) who showed us to our room with friendly enthusiasm and excellent English, but we found the rest of the reception staff rather cool - busy no doubt with so many comings and goings - it is a big hotel. Valet parking for our car was efficient , safe and necessary. The roof terrace and pool is equally intriguing once you have found it via the lift.

It's a fun experience to stay in Las Casas with the tunnels or narrow winding streets between the lobby and your room. It was a bummer that there wasn't any parking on site and they weren't particularly helpful in helping us find a place for our rental car. Once we got the car parked, it was fun to walk everywhere from this central location. The breakfasts were very good! The room was pretty good. We couldn't figure out the temperature controls, so it was a bit cold. But, I would definitely stay here again for the convenience of the location. The bar across the street was one of our worst dining experiences in Spain (rude wait staff and so-so expensive food), but the winding streets and nearness to the cathedral and shops and Alcazar was great!
