I don't often leave a review but wanted to give you an insight to our recent trip to stay at the Barcelo Teguise Beach hotel. We took the better flight times arriving on the Tuesday mid afternoon, this helps, The sun was out and the hotel is very presentable from the outside. We booked a Double Deluxe with Sea view and Whirlpool bath via Jet2; we were aware of the Whirlpool baths being both in the rooms and on the balcony and had decided we would prefer a room with it on the balcony. On arrival we waited only a few minutes to be checked in and Sara, the receptionist who assisted us, could not have been more helpful. The allocated room had the bath inside the room however she did some checks and made a call and our room was changed to one with the bath on the balcony. Sara also spotted that it was my wife's birthday during our stay and we were delighted when a bottle of Cava on ice and champagne glasses were presented to the room on the day. The room itself was spacious, clean and well appointed with a super view over the bay, in our view one of the best rooms. The layout of the hotel rooms is open 'blocks' in the Lanzarote white and green style 3 floors high with lifts. Recommend you let the staff at reception take you to your room after checking in as they also explain the layout and location of the restaurants, pools and bars (thanks Aaron). We spent most of the days out and about using the very good an inexpensive bus service or walking on the many (rugged) trails that extend in to the interior or north up the coast from the town. The restaurant service we found to be very good, with a broad selection for both breakfast and dinner ( we were booked half board). The drinks in the restaurant were not overly priced and the house white wine we found to be perfectly acceptable. The concierge at the restaurant (Montserrat) always made a point of greeting us whenever she was on duty. Whilst the pool area was busy, we were always able to get a sun lounger and it was a nice touch for the staff to come round to offer fresh fruit or other nibbles foc. The wine tasting and cocktail events at the pool later in the day were fun and we enjoyed the accompanying DJ. The hotel itself is well situated in the town and we did not find the nearby bars noisy at night (admittedly they mostly closed early). One nearby bar of particular mention that didn't close early is the Casita del Gin, newly opened and run by husband and wife team Eva and Phillipe. Phillipe has worked in many high end bars in the UK and Europe and it shows in his selection of Gins and quality of his cocktails. Eva has designed a very comfortable bar and I would recommend to anyone wanting an alternate to the many Sports Bars to drop in. We were made most welcome. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our first trip to Costa Teguise and found this to be a very good hotel with attentive staff, not over-stuffy and a joy to visit.
