“An absolute diamond”

This hotel is amazing, absolutely no complaints at all ! Lovely spacious rooms, cleaned daily. The food was excellent, something for everyone. The staff were fantastic, all ensuring that our needs were met. A special mention for Omar on the entertainment team, he made our stay so much fun

Only good things to say - this hotel is super clean, the food is fantastic, and the choice is one of the best I have ever experienced. Being allergic to many things, I could still have a choice, and the chefs were always there to advise and help. The animation staff were great but not in your face, so you weren't left feeling bad if you did not want to participate in daily activities (though who would like to say no to bingo!). The sun terrace offers fantastic views across La Gomera. The gym is one of the biggest I have ever seen in any hotel. This is a 4-star hotel but provides a 10-star experience.

Have stayed at this hotel many times in the past and this review is no reflection of the staff who work so hard to make your holiday so special However, despite the fact the hotel and grounds are absolutely beautiful the rooms are being allowed to deteriorate very badly. The rooms are down right shabby now. Seeing this happen after staying so many times in the past is such a shame because the grounds and exterior of the hotel is really quite stunning. Generally the food in the restaurants is very good and the choice on offer is ample. The alacarte restaurants are very good however, the standard in the Italian has definitely dropped. Overall the general standards in this hotel has dropped, with the exception of the allacarte restaurants linen table cloths are no longer used and gentlemen can just about wear anything they want in the restaurants in the evenings. The actual quality of the alcohol in the drinks is questionable, I assume to cut costs. Plenty of it but it is very poor quality ! In the past this hotel justifiably held its platinum status, but we can understand why it is no longer listed as such and now falls into the cheaper end of the market. In the past we had no hesitation but to recommend this hotel and its location however, sadly to say I now believe there are far better hotels in Tenerife to stay particularly if you enjoy a touch of quality.

This is a return trip for us, our last holiday here was in 2018. We wanted a reliable short break where we knew what we were getting and having had a couple of dubious weekend breaks in other parts of the Canary Islands decided to stick with what we know and having checked the reviews it clear seemed that the hotel was still delivering. We booked via Jet2 and got a good deal, a junior suite which was similar to the one we occupied the last time we were here. I contacted the hotel in advance to query whether an early check-in was possible and was told no, I also asked whether it was possible to upgrade to a Seaview direct with the hotel and was also told no. However when we arrived we were able to check in early which was fantastic. The hotel gets a lot of repeat visitors and no mention was made about our return which was a shame as we felt it would have been nice to be acknowledged that we had chosen to come back. The hotel has not really changed at all, it’s in desperate need of modernisation, however the doors to your Room now opens via a wristband chip which makes things much easier. We were on the third floor overlooking the pool. I could see the sea in the distance. We were the furthest block away so definitely not a prime location but for the price we paid, we were quite happy. The food remains really good. Plenty of choice, it’s fresh and changes daily, you sometimes have to wait for popular items, and the pool bar is now self-serve and the snack menu provides the usual fast food and fills a whole before dinner, especially if you have sunk a few beers. There is now an iced coffee machine by the pool which was great. From memory, the last time I was here one of the pools was heated, however, both were the same temperature so I think the heat wave Tenerife experienced the week before we came meant the other had warmed up, they were still fine, even when the Sun was out. Staff are mostly Very friendly and the grounds are pleasant. The balcony is a good size, there is plenty of storage and hanging space and the hairdryer is great. Hair shampoo and shower gel are provided and nice enough. Towels are thin and small. The hotel looks tired and jaded, the rooms have not altered at all since our last visit and while fairly clean, they are also very dated. The bed we had was lumpy and my husband had real trouble sleeping which is unusual for him. The bed was saggy and rose in the middle forming two dips each side. One morning he was up at 6.30am as he couldn’t get comfortable and that’s a shame as w wanted the chance to lie in and relax. We had a number of gripes, starting with the room, including the extractor fan in the bathroom not working, and no bathroom window that opens. An old and very noisy fridge, no stool or chair in front of the vanity desk meaning I had to drag plastic chair from outside to straighten my hair. It’s good to see the ridiculous saloon doors have been removed meaning the bathroom is now Open Plan, however, there is no vanity mirror and the lighting is pretty rubbish, so ladies make sure you bring a good mirror and possibly a light ring if make-up is your thing as you’ll struggle. Around the pool, there are lots and lots of laybeds available, it does contribute to making it feel very crowded and I don’t remember there being so many laybeds when we last visited. Disappointing to see a lot of them are very grubby, saggy and very uncomfortable. There are some newer ones available but the new ones aren’t that comfortable either and I found laying on my front a challenge as there is no padding. There are very few tables available for the sun beds. Around the pool the tired theme continued, broken tiles, raised and missing tiles, and the buildings themselves also look tired with missing roof tiles and broken windows. The lobby doesn’t have the wow factor that the sister hotel has and a broken step was cordoned off for the duration of our stay! The cocktails are premixed but drinkable. We used the casa Bonita in the sister hotel as part of our all inclusive, we thought we’re entitled to two as we were staying 4 nights but were told without much charm we weren’t! 5 nights would have got us two and with that he cut me off and I couldn’t be bothered to discuss it further. The meal was pleasant and we enjoyed a few cocktails in the chill bar after. On our last night we decided to walk back along the terrace out past the end of the restaurant and unfortunately saw a ray making its way back up the slope, now I’m not naive I know they are everywhere but as someone who has a severe rodent phobia this was a catastrophic end to our holiday. I’m terrified of them and went straight to a member of the bar staff who directed me to reception. I told them what we had seen, the nice gentleman explained they have cats and a pest control Company who visits regularly. He said he’d file a report and the next day the manager contacted me to ask what I’d seen. He reiterated what the man on reception about pest control and said they used glue traps, he also said that the outside of the hotel has wildlife which they can’t control, which I do understand. However this rat was seen by the restaurant so makes me wonder where it had been… Unfortunately for me this was the not what I wanted to see on our holiday. I also saw a lot of cockroaches which again go hand in hand with a warmer climate and I’m quite happy to stamp on, but these coupled with the rat was unsettling and while possibly I was just unlucky, I won’t be returning. I think overwhelmingly we were not made to feel particularly welcome, and while my concerns were addressed I wasn’t left feeling like a valued guest. It wasn’t even explained that we could have purchased an additional A la Carte meal, I overhear another guest talking about this. Instead we went out to a local restaurant in Fanabe. We did have a nice time but it wasn’t what I’d hoped!
