“Great Place at the End of the World”

After arriving in Ushuaia, I was really happy to have chosen this place. Not a lot of choices for self catering but this one was just perfect for our needs. We had a studio on the ground floor - which was only weird when we had to leave the window open at night the heat worked really well!) The unit was very clean and well equipped. Plenty of hot water in the shower/tub. Breakfast items were provided daily and there was a supermarket within walking distance. It was at the top of a hill - so what goes down, must come up. Tour companies had no problem finding us for our day trips. Cable TV worked great and we had lots of choices. I'd recommend this place to anyone. The only negative was the quality of the bedding which was fine but could have been better. Walk to town was about 15 minutes - walk back about 30! Laundry also within short walking distance (pay by the kilo). there was some street noice on Friday and Saturday nights.

No one wants to get left sitting and you don't want people flushing paper towels down the drain as it will ruin your pipes. Cons: Lack of toilet paper - Note to all hotels: please leave a spare roll in each room! No one wants to get left sitting and you don't want people flushing paper towels down the drain as it will ruin your pipes. Continental breakfast - So that you're not surprised, this is actually just sandwich bread, a pack of ham, and a carton of juice. Payment Surcharges - They try to charge you an extra fee for not paying in cash and even more if you pay in cash but US dollars. If you stay here as an American make sure you book through an American run website and that all the terms and conditions are read. That is the only way you can't be surprised of extra fees. No duvet cover on the duvet. The apartment was seemingly clean but I did get bitten while I was sleeping by some bugs. Local dogs howling in the middle of the night. Pros: Huge duplex, great for couples with kids or large groups. Every corner had a bed in it. There were actually 3 singles and 1 double. Kitchen and jacuzzi bath Location - great proximity to town. This place is okay. You just need to be aware of certain things so that your expectations are in line with reality. It's pretty much like 4 or so town homes next to each other in a row, cabin style. It's spacious and minimalist as is the furniture and bed coverings. The dinner table was fit for the patio. It's just not fancy or upscale. Oh and all the instructions for things (lock box, tv, wifi) are only in Spanish so make sure you ask upon check in how things work.

We stayed in Aires del Beagle for 3 nights in Oct, 2012. I had great expectations, with the large duplex rooms, jacuzzi. But, to our surprise, we discovered there are 2 categories of accomodations and the ordinary double rooms did not have any of these atractions! In fact the double rooms are located in a kind of basement. I must say the staff was really nice, Rodrigo and the other guy. The pillows, bedsheets and duvet looked soiled, too wornout, giving the impression of filthy.... The internet was ok, but we had to keep on asking Rodrigo to reset the modem! We had a bad luck to share the hotel with 22 youngster so our quality of sleep.... anyway, they were having fun! Although I did not have a great experience there, This is a hotel I would strongly recomment for families or big groups for the ammenities they offer.

“Nice place other than the road noise”

The Aires del Beagle is an 8 room aparthotel near downtown Ushuaia. Our room was a two floor unit with beds for 6 people and a small kitchen and living room downstairs. The Aires del Beagle is an 8 room aparthotel near downtown Ushuaia. Our room was a two floor unit with beds for 6 people and a small kitchen and living room downstairs. The staff is very helpful and the rooms are well maintained, but the breakfast they provide is basically juice, bread and yogurt. The biggest downside to the hotel is the location about 5 minute walk from downtown right on a major road, which causes a lot of noise. If you don't mind the noise, the hotel is an excellent value and would be a great spot for a group of guys going skiing, but for those sensitive to noise it's a tough place to stay. One tip: we had a fantastic seafood meal and Chiko's on Avenida Atlantida Argentina. The centolla (king crab I think) was amazing!
