“Very comfortable stay”

Spent 2 nights here. Staff very helpful and friendly. Nothing too much of a bother for them. Relaxed atmosphere. Cosy bar good food. Bedrooms comfortable Good position to explore Glen Affric Very peaceful location

Due to the fact all the hotels were fully booked close to Loch Ness we found the Tomich Hotel. Due to the fact all the hotels were fully booked close to Loch Ness we found the Tomich Hotel. Despiute is was a drive from Loch Ness, a very nice drive, we arrived in Tomich, a very nice collection of houses and farms. In fact a wonderfull environment. The food in the hotel was very good, as well as the choice of drinks. The bath room okay and the beds as well. First day the WIFI did not work very well in the coach house, but that was solved within a day. (Back up also in the Main House) Apparently the management changed,French now, every thing well organized.

“Old hotel near Glen Affric”

Tomich Hotel lies about 5min drive from Cannich, a wee bit larger town based in Glen Affric. Our room was very old, the bed was too soft for our taste and the bathroom was also very small (good shower however!) - all in all everything was a bit shabby and could use a good clean-up. Tomich Hotel lies about 5min drive from Cannich, a wee bit larger town based in Glen Affric. Our room was very old, the bed was too soft for our taste and the bathroom was also very small (good shower however!) - all in all everything was a bit shabby and could use a good clean-up. Food in the pub was okay, the staff was very friendly and made extra soup for my sick partner. Good for one night, if you want to stay near Glen Affric, however I wouldn't want to stay longer than that.

We booked this in February as we wished to walk in Glen Affric and this was well positioned to do so. The owner was also very friendly and helpful on the phone. However when we arrived we learnt that the hotel had been sold and had changed hands in June. No one had informed us of this. Our first impression was of a very dated (1970s), tired hotel that needed a complete refurbishment. The welcome was not impressive. We were told the dining room had been closed and only the bar area was open for dinner. Not a great start. We were very tempted to leave. Our room however was clean and comfortable with a large comfortable bed. We decided to have a coffee and then go for a walk. At this point we met Jenny who has worked at the hotel for many years and lives locally. She is an absolute gem. She was extremely friendly and helpful, gave us advice on walks, discussed dinner and clarified my food allergies, explaining that the chef was still the same and was good. She explained that due to unforeseen circumstances the new owner had not yet been able to take up the reins and the hotel was being run by a friend of his and so was treading water at present. It is hoped that he will be able to take up the reins this winter. So we decided to stay and give it a try. The hotel is in a lovely area with beautiful scenery, Plodda Falls up the lane and fabulous walking in Glen Affric, which is 15 mins away. Our meal that night was good. We chose the specials, which were freshly cooked with local lamb. Breakfast is very average, the loud Beatles music playing is irritating and inappropriate. Dinner on the second night was good again and the bar was full and is obviously popular with non-residents. The hotel is fabulously located and has huge potential but is need of a complete overall. The couple running it for the owner are friendly but clearly out of their depth. The hotel is an old hunting lodge so could have a unique and cosy feel to it if sympathetically modernised. Our stay was better than our first impressions indicated it would be and it will be interesting to see how the new owner develops the hotel. Whatever his plans are they should include Jenny!
