“Deluxe Onsen Hotel”

Clean and spacious room, nice tea and snacks served in room. Onsen is wonderful, especially it was in the best timing of first snow in the a year, semi-outdoor style, hot spring with below zero degree temperature outside. Perfect! Standard Kaiseiki type breakfast, average taste.

We stopped over in Kami-Suwa to catch the express coach to Hirugami Onsen the next day. Hotel is about 8mins walk from Kami-Suwa West Exit; it’s a longer walk from East Exit. The random room we were assigned was a large recently renovated Tatami style room with western box spring mattresses on a raised platform; very comfortable with attached bathroom n toilet. The gender separated Onsen are large with indoor n outside baths. Water was adequately hot n ph of about 8. Dinner was served in a dining room n the food quality was good n sumptuous. Will certainly book this hotel if we came this way again.

We stayed here as part of a tour. 40 years since I'd last stayed in a ryokan and the futon seemed a lot less comfortable, and getting up from it a lot more effort, but such are the effects of age. We stayed here as part of a tour. 40 years since I'd last stayed in a ryokan and the futon seemed a lot less comfortable, and getting up from it a lot more effort, but such are the effects of age. Our room was spacious, with a Western style sitting area. Tea was provided and the bathroom was immaculate. We had a traditional Japanese breakfast, which would have been better if our guide could have described the food, but overall we enjoyed our time here.

This is a small and quaint hotel with a beautiful full sized room with a private bath and you sleep on a futon on a tatami mat for the true Japanese adventure. This is a small and quaint hotel with a beautiful full sized room with a private bath and you sleep on a futon on a tatami mat for the true Japanese adventure. There is a wonderful communal bath for ladies and a separate one for men. This too gave you a true Japanese experience. The meal was total Japanese style. We were even dressed in the traditional Japanese attire for dinner. The staff was very cordial and everything was extremely clean and service oriented.
