The old wooden hotel was originally built in 1871 and has been visited by famous historic personalities such as Emperor Wilhelm, Queen Wilhelmina, Queen Juliana, the authors, Henrik Ipsen and Bjoernstjerne Bjoernson and the Norwegian Royal family. The historic frames and the warm atmosphere have remained in the main building of the hotel, with the old dining-room, the reception and the pub while the 29 hotel rooms are newly renovated in a similar old style. The rooms - all with toilet and shower - are placed right at the shore of the fjord with fantastic bathing and fishing possibilities and literally the most beautiful view in the whole of Norway from the doorstep.
