Located in the very heart of Bologna city centre, on the eastern side of Piazza Maggiore, it is placed right beside San Petronio Basilica and is named after the Medieval bank shops. The building dates back to 1412, whist the façade and the ‘portico’ were finished in 1568; in 2010 Palazzo Banchi was fully renovated, and it has been newly furnished in August 2014. The focal point of the apartment are the marvellous Neo-classical frescoes where some pagan elements are reinterpreted in a hermetic fashion: Jupiter lies with an eagle on his side –one of his symbols- whilst Hebe pours him the ambrosia and Minerva crowns him. The original flooring (Venetian terrazzo, ‘seminato’) has been kept and polished; the many windows, preserving the XIX-century façade, offer breathtaking views of Piazza Maggiore. The apartment has high-end finishes, such as air conditioning, independent heating, and sound-proofed, insulated windows and doors. The furniture is completed by some refined pieces of modern art and lithographs of famous Italian artists, that bestow an elegant, refined atmosphere to the ambience. The apartment has two separate entrances: one from the stairs and the other, which is private, from the elevator. Both of them lead the guests into the luxury frescoed living room, furnished with a sofa bed for two people, a desk and a flat screen TV. A pillar separates the spacious foyer from the reception room, lit by three huge windows offering ample views of Piazza Maggiore; here you find a dining table for up to 9 people, an extra sofa bed and some poufs where the guests can relax quietly. The open-plan kitchen, fully fitted with oven and dishwasher, is located in a spacious niche. The night area is composed of two double bedrooms, a single bedroom and two bathrooms. Guests have to cross an elegant hallway with a skylight made of wrought-iron and glass, that creates a refined ambience. The master bedroom overlooks Via Clavature, a picturesque alleyway leading to Piazza Maggiore, and it is furnished with a wardrobe, a comfortable double bed (made by two single beds) and a pouf. Across from it there is the guest bedroom, with a double bed (made by two single beds) and a big wardrobe. The single bedroom is the most precious room thanks to its semi-circular niche with a big skylight; it is furnished with a single bed and a matching wardrobe. The apartment has two bathrooms, both equipped with a shower stall and decorated with mosaic tiles. Exclusive feature: the shower cubicle in the master bedroom is obtained into the wall itself and is very spacious.
