The azulejos (Portuguese tiles) lining the walls, together with the parquet flooring, provide a rustic feel, which contrasts nicely with the clean white walls and modern flatscreen cable TV to provide the best of both worlds: traditional and modern. The sofa folds out to make a double sofa-bed if needed, and additional seating is provided by an armchair and the chairs around the wooden dining table, which is placed at the opposite end of the room. The main bedroom has plenty of space and contains a large, comfortable double bed and has a window to let in natural light. Bedside tables with reading lamps and a chest of drawers for storing clothes complete the tasteful decoration to make this a very cosy room. Additional storage is provided by fitted wardrobes in the corridor leading to the modern bathroom, which contains a bathtub with shower cubicle, washbasin, WC & bidet and heated towel rack. The entrance to the other two small bedrooms is from the living room. Both contain single beds and the second of these two bedrooms is accessed only from the first one, with a heavy curtain to provide a certain level of privacy. The kitchen combines the original stone architecture with modern labour-saving equipment, including dishwasher, washing machine, oven, microwave, induction hob, fridge-freezer and all the necessary cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils. The thick walls of this old building provide insulation against both the heat and the cold, but just in case, portable cooling fans are provided for the Summer and portable heaters are provided for the Winter.
