Access to the apartment is directly from the historical Alfama street. On the ground floor there is a a modern and fully equipped kitchen. In the kitchen you will find a combination fridge/freezer, a washer/dryer, an electric oven, hob and extractor fan. There is also a microwave, toaster, coffee machine and blender as well as all the necessary cooking utensils. The kitchen also houses the essential items that ensure maximum comfort such as a wine cooler, napkins, kitchen roll, and coffee filters. There is traditional Portuguese dining set hand made and inspired by the typical Portuguese restaurants. There is a dining area with a table for 4 guests. The table is situated in a well lit area that has been designed to be reminiscent of an Alfama patio. Also on the ground floor you will find the modern bathroom with a modern and spacious shower cubical that has three different water outlets. There is a lit mirror, a glass cabinet for storing your products, and a heated towel rack. The bathroom also comes equipped with a hair-dryer, hand soap, towels and paper. At the bottom of the staircase is a cubby hole that houses the ironing equipment and cleaning utensils. Being Alfama, an area famed for its Fado traditions, there are various references to the queen of Fado Amalia Rodrigues including photos and the lyrics of Amalia. On the first floor there is a living area with a sofa-bed that can accommodate an additional 2 guests. There are comfortable soft furnishings including cushions and throws to help you relax after a day exploring the city. There is a wall suspended LED TV with Cable channels including international channels. The apartment is fitted with Wi-Fi internet. There are two support tables, one inspired by antique basin with an ambient light fitting. The second support table is more then one hundred years old and has been restored and painted. There is a vintage clock and a guestbook that has been handmade in Portugal in the style of the old books used by the merchants. The walls have been decorated by antique plates acquired in the famous Feira de Ladra flea market. The room also houses a cubical for storing clothes or luggage. Also on the first floor is the bedroom with immense natural lighting. There is a double bed with a quality comfortable mattress so you can sleep and rest as well as at home. There is a beautiful quilt and cushions hand made and chosen to reflect tradition. Two bedside tables accompany the bed and have table lamps one of which has been made out of blown glass, designed to resemble the antique oil lamps yet with a touch of the modern. One of the bedside tables is designed with an old fisherman's basket in mind, adorned with flowers to add a touch of romance. The bedroom wall has been decorated with a photo of one of the most famous Fado singers Amalia and some of her lyrics have been etched on the wall.
