“Great hotel”

Still at this hotel at moment..Lovely and clean everywhere. All staff very nice and very helpful..food good . is very safe as cameras on corridors and areas around the hotel..rooms good standard..Will definatley return..x

“Excellent hotel”

Great location close to the train station. Close to shops and lots of eateries .The beach was only a short walk away. Hotel was spotless, lovely staff who were helpful. Bright, modern and clean , great bedroom , beds made every day. Lots of toiletries provided.

I've given 4 stars for the experience at the Monteplaya because part of the review covers location, but the hotel itself I'd give a 5 if I was able to do it separately The beaches along this coast are fantastic. Obviously not very busy in April/May but even in the height of summer I would imagine there would be space to relax. The hotel position is a little odd, not quite what we were expecting, in fact if we hadn't been directed by the coach drivers we might initially have missed the unobtrusive little entrance. It is positioned between a row of shops. There is nothing hugely flamboyant about it but once under the arch you are in a little oasis. There was a very small flaw in the location in that we didn't know before we went, that the railway bisects the road, In fact you can practically only access the beach if you take one of the subways to get safely across. This wasn't a major deal, just unexpected and there are plenty of subways, but if you are a light sleeper, you would have to factor in the train noise, especially in the evening and late into the night then early morning. They shoot past very quickly but you do get some noise. The railway would affect all the hotels along this stretch, not just the Monteplayer . Then of course, because the hotel fronts the road you get the noise of drunken holiday makers even into the early hours of the morning but that's humans for you. We all holiday differently I suppose !!! The hotel itself, and it's staff, are without doubt, probably the best we have experienced anywhere Nothing was ever too much trouble. Forgotten your USB plug ? not a problem. Go to reception and they have a drawer with spares you can borrow The hotel is spectacularly clean. Everything and everywhere is spotless and it gleams. Bedding and towels were the whitest we ever had. The towels are a very generous size and soft but still have drying properties, unlike some where they slide right off your skin. Housekeeping was very efficient and unobtrusive. Tea/coffee making is in the room but the cups are very small We did ask for, and get, an adaptable room which was very useful to me as I have a balance problem. Although I didn't actually require a wheelchair the room is designed for this , including the bathroom. Here I can really praise the hotel. It was more of a wetroom with a seat inside the shower for the disabled person. In fact the room was so large, as were the shower doors, that a wheelchair could go right up to it. The shower head was removable, but could be fixed at head height as well as lower down so suited all aspects of disability. The shower floor and the bathroom tiles were non slip so no fear of falls The water temperature could be fixed and the flow was very powerful. There was a lift up arm to one side of the loo and another fixed one to the other side to aid independence and mobility The only downside to the adapted room was that there wasn't a sink in the bathroom, not even a little handbasin. I really think it would improve the facility if there was a hand washing basin inside for after toilet use. I appreciate that a big sink outside might be better for a handicapped person although possibly too high for total independence. It's a personal choice for me. A hand washing facility in a loo is a must Because we had the adapted room, the balcony was very large, with easy wheelchair access. It was however, mainly in the shade and the hotel balconies next door look right down on yours, as you do theirs Food . Ah, here I'm sure some people would find fault. It seems like a week's menu is repeated for the second week. Why wouldn't they. It must make for convenience having to provide so many meals for different tastes. We never went hungry !! There was plenty of choice, We were half board so only breakfast and evening meal for us but the choices were many. My biggest bugbear was temperature. I really detest tepid food but after a few days I made enquiries which led to the discovery of the microwave which meant I could have my hot porridge or a warmer main meal. There was always plenty of fish or chicken and vegetarian options It's true that the meat wasn't always as tender as it could be but then there was always something else you could try. Desserts, there was plenty of choice from cakes, fresh fruit (large slices of fresh pineapple and melon for instance) yoghurts, ice cream etc There is a Zen garden which is nicely laid out but for those of us a little physically challenged, the sun loungers were a no no which was a shame as they are in the sun !! Even a couple of the very comfortable wicker chairs moved across would have helped There is a very large room, fitted out with long table and various chairs which was hardly ever used. I did think it would be a quiet room for reading or playing card games but the piped music spoilt it for me and when that doubled when the music from the bar entertainment started it didn't make for a peaceful ambience There are two outside pools, both appearing to have a spa availability. The lower one where all the loungers are plus a smaller spa pool on the next level up which only has a few deckchairs round it. Both pools are unheated and in April/May, naturally pretty cold. You may well appreciate that in July /August Above the small spa pool there is a sunroof. Flooring of artificial grass makes it comfortable to walk on. There are a number of loungers, padded settees and deckchairs. I would imagine in the height of summer it will be busy but we always got a chair of some sort. Would we stay at his hotel again, or recommend it. Definitely Most of the negatives are minor to us
