Das Kaltenbach was one of the highlights of our trip to Germany and Austria. Centrally located in the Zillertal Valley, the location of this hotel enables you to easily reach all the sites and activities this region has to offer. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful, a lot has been put into the design and fixtures, which are of the highest quality. We were upgraded to a three bedroom apartment on the first floor and had a terrace / grass area outside our room. The hotel is well thought out so people can enjoy the facilities and have the type of holiday that works for them. Although the car park was full, I never felt the hotel was over run with people. It appeared there as a mix of families and couples, and the hotel caters well for young and old. My boys particularly loved the games room and the younger children loved the playground and small petting zoo. The breakfast food offers variety and is really fresh, the omelettes were a highlight! The hotel doesn’t have a restaurant for dinner but we found plenty of local options, some on foot and some we had to drive to. A criticism I read was that the hotel is in a bit of an industrial area and you can hear road noise. For clarity, it’s perched well above the road and the views across the valley to the mountains are amazing. Yes, there is a huge car park for winter skiiing visible from the property but it doesn’t impact on the stay or views at all. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend it!

Everything is top-notch: the rooms, the delicious breakfast, the wellness, the fitness… Stephan and Isabella truly make the difference. Their personal approach and deep love for the mountains and the Zillertal turn every day into something special, with tailor-made hikes that lead to hidden gems far from the beaten path. Our expectations were more than exceeded. We returned home with warm hearts and a backpack full of unforgettable memories. This was the perfect holiday — good for body and mind. And yes, we’ll definitely be back! A heartfelt thank you to Stephan and Isabella for making our stay so special — your warmth, attention, and passion made all the difference!

“Week in a paradise”
