“Room ok with small bathroom, friendly service personnel but food is not great”

We had half board, breakfast was good with a variety of different buns, muesli, cheese and eggs (scrambled and hard boiled). We had half board, breakfast was good with a variety of different buns, muesli, cheese and eggs (scrambled and hard boiled). Unfortunately the fruits were canned, not fresh, which is too sweet for me. Dinner was buffet style and wasn’t the best taste-wise, which is a result of cooking for the masses, but different dishes were offered everyday (no repetitions) and some dishes were good. The hotel in general was ok. There’s a bicycle rental on their premises daily which is very convenient. We had a smaller double room without a balcony. The bathroom is very small though. Cleaning of rooms was done only every 2 days (not daily) due to a shortage of personnel after the pandemic. Which I found reasonable since I don’t clean my house daily either. The service personnel at the reception and in the restaurant are friendly and helpful.

Double-check rates for room with or without balcony, with or without half board, to avoid surprises when booking through HRS or Booking.com Passages need a revamp (dirty carpets), but rooms are okay. Modern bathrooms with hairdryer and barrier-free showers. Better for couples and families than singles. A key drop box is needed for early checkouts like 7 a.m. when reception is not yet manned. Heating fine, but no air-con. Other than that it's a good base and very near the main beach front. I love Borkum! .... Since 40 years....
