“Friendly & Comfortable”

There are two choices for hotels in Pago Pago. We chose Tradewinds. The shuttle driver was at the airport when we arrived. The front desk personnel were always kind and helpful, assisting us with directions and recommendations. The continental breakfast is sufficient, but they also have a Cafe on sight where you can get breakfast sandwiches and custom coffee. Our room was basic, but clean and the bed was comfortable. Our view of the pool and surrounding mountains was beautiful. The car rental benefit worked very well and the shuttle got us back to the airport without issue.

This hotel is friendly. The room is was clean, although a bit worn in. For the price it provided a good location, place to sleep and eat. The air conditioning worked well. We were visiting the National Park and the island. It is very remote, and there are few accommodations in the area. We rented a car from the hotel which was convenient- a bit expensive $110/day. Car was clean and was perfect for us to explore. The airport pick up and shuttle is a nice plus.

The Tradewinds is a good solid place to stay. The staff is friendly and attentive. The lobby and other common areas are clean. The rooms are nice. We stayed in a suite, which had a small kitchen, a microwave, and refrigerator, all in a sitting area with a couch and two sitting chairs. Although the bed was a little soft and the pillow was not great, those are minor inconveniences. The bathroom was nicely appointed and the TV and Wi-Fi worked just fine. This is not a fine resort like you might find in Hawaii, or on some Caribbean island. Rather, it is a nice hotel with a pool and nice amenities. We, like many people staying here, were visiting National Park of American Samoa. The hotel is excellent for that purpose. The park is only about a half an hour drive away. And the drive is very pleasant. Finally, the hotel is also very convenient being near the airport.

Stayed there for only one night and it did its job. The hotel has a free airport shuttle and free parking on property, and only a 5 min drive away. The front desk staff was very friendly, professional, and helpful. As far as the room goes, I'm pretty sure the llast time it was retouched, Jimmy Carter was President. My room (134) was very dated, with some TLC needed all over. The bed was extremely soft and not very comfortable. The furniture also looks like it was bought in a thrift store in 1982. There's a restaurant and a bar in the hotel, but sadly, the bartender was never really around. I even waited almost 20 min for him to comeback after complaining at the front desk. Overall, this is a decent option while in American Samoa. The staff was very friendly, the location was great, but at almost $200/night, I expected more for the room.
