Whether u're visiting Bad Ischl for a base or enjoying the city itself, and looking for a place for with a good proximity to the station, look no further.. it's the absolute choice! The place is lovely and authentic. There's a kitchen on the ground where u can help urself and a cozy common area on the lobby. The guy on the reception was also very helpful to discuss with about travelling around the area. The only downside was: the access to the building which is uphill and not smooth. Quite hard for us with big lugagges, baby stroller (and arrived in the middle night). Hence i recommend this place for those of you with backpacks, travelling by car, or not-so-heavy luggages.

Location is within 5mins walk from both train station and bus station. As Bad Ischl is a small town, it is also within walking distance to many cafes and shops. Accomodation is clean. Location is within 5mins walk from both train station and bus station. As Bad Ischl is a small town, it is also within walking distance to many cafes and shops. Accomodation is clean. Booked the budget twin room and we had our own bathroom and balcony. Towels are provided. Hotel is located on a low hill, hence dragging the luggage up can be quite tiring during check-in. Free tea, coffee and hot water is available in the shared kitchen located on the 1st level. Very happy with the accomodation!

The Sonnhof really is just a few minutes from the railway station. It is on top of a low hill (warning to those pulling heavy luggage) and so surrounded by mature trees that, when inside, you almost forget that you are in a town. The Sonnhof really is just a few minutes from the railway station. It is on top of a low hill (warning to those pulling heavy luggage) and so surrounded by mature trees that, when inside, you almost forget that you are in a town. The rooms are comfortable and many (all?) have a balcony. It is obviously a quite old building, but has been maintained very well and decorated with a variety of antiques and curios. While there is 24 hour free coffee, there is no breakfast (we picked ours up in the supermarket). This is rather a pity, as they have a really nice breakfast room. The cat that lives on the premises is quite friendly and appreciates the efforts that the owners have gone to in arranging for some many guests to visit for his (or her) benefit. A good choice in a place like Bad Ischl.

There were no breakfasts offered at this hotel which could be because we were slightly out of season but I thought they could really make… Plus

Comfortable and authentic hotel. Friendly no messing owner. Great for 1 night stay. 10 mins walk to old town with plenty of restaurants - even on a Sunday night. There were no breakfasts offered at this hotel which could be because we were slightly out of season but I thought they could really make money on this having stayed in a number of hotels over the course of our trip. I also saw a bar that was closed and did think it would have been nice to go back to the hotel for a drink before bed - probably not worth the cost of employing someone if it's only people like me for one drink though. Hotel room had plenty of space and the hotel was very easy to find.
