We enjoyed our stay here. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The concierge at reception helpfully took our bags up to the room. The shower in our accessible room was lovely and hot and the beds were comfortable. Meals in the shelburne restaurant were very nicely presented and service was quick. The menu for the DBB offer was more limited and had supplements for some items ( i think it was £18 supplement for the lamb! You could buy a joint for that). It might have been nice to have 1 or 2 specials each day for variety, particularly if you were staying for more than a couple of nights. The lounge area and library was comfortable to sit in and read. We had lunch in the golf club area. The choices were tapas style but quite expensive. The air conditioning in the room was excellent, especially during the hot weather. All the breakfast staff were friendly and efficient, especially Betti, who was particularly welcoming. We used the DBB offer, which included entrance to Bowood house and gardens. Our room overlooked part of the golf course and mainly the carpark, which was very busy all day with golfers. I booked a massage in the spa area, which was really good. The spa wasn't that busy when I went there and the pool looked inviting. I did hear a couple complain that the jacuzzi and the sauna were out of action. Looking at the reviews, this seems a common theme,or perhaps it hasn't been fixed for a while?

“Five Star”

5 of us enjoyed a truly wonderful dinner in the Shelburne restaurant last week. The atmosphere was relaxing - the service was attentive and the food was exceptional. Thank you to all involved - especially Patrick.

Our friends were getting married and had chose the Golf Club as a venue, suggesting we booked a room at Bowood Hotel as it’s a long drive from home. First impressions were from Seb, the concierge, who was very eager to help in any way he could. The staff, from the Front Desk to Housekeeping to the waiting staff in the Restaurant just quietly got on with the job of discreetly running the immaculately presented hotel with quiet efficiency and warmth of personality. Everything in the property, from the glass bottle of local milk in the fridge, to the thoughtfully placed shoe shine cloth in the wardrobe, oozes “class with a touch of discreet sustainability”. The catering provided at the Golf Resort for our friends wedding was really enjoyable and breakfast (I chose the Full Wiltshire offering) was wonderful. For Golfers, the golf course is immaculately manicured and, if I was able to play golf instead of digging out divots, I’d be here every week!

We stayed at Bowood many years ago with a mixed golf group, and really enjoyed the Hotel and Golf Course. We brought our visiting American friends to stay ofr one night on their way to Southampton to join a cruise - Dave was also celebrating his 80th birthday. The rooms, as before, were comfortable, clean and adequately furnished - a little noise could be heard through the wall but it was no big deal. We had dinner in the restaurant - the food was first class and service was friendly and reasonably attentive. There was a red wine spillage by one of the young waiters: fortunately no stains resulted. It was handled OK but perhaps could have been dealt with a little better. I must mention Georgia - it was her first day at Bowood as waitress. She was outstanding and really 'on it' - she will really make a great addition to your Team. Breakfast the next day was again really good. Would we stay again? Yes. Already thinking of returning in September or thereabouts - this time with the Golf clubs....
