We have recently returned from this caserio having booked it out for our wedding. All of our guests were travelling from Ireland and everybody said that their time here was the highlight of the trip. The building and grounds are pristine and gorgeous. The rooms are well appointed and very comfortable. The level of care shown to us by the Francisco and Tania can not be stated. I have never stayed anywhere that had the same personal level of service. Franciso speaks perfect English if that is required. The biggest surprise of the stay for me and my wife was the food. We expected some nice home cooked food, like you would get in a B&B. What we received was the best food of our trip. I was simply amazed at the food that Francisco was putting in front of us. Better than restaurants we ate at that were 4 times the price. That is the absolute truth. As you can tell, I can not speak more highly of the place. We are already planning our next trip to the Basque Country around a stay here. Give this place a try. You will not regret it.

“One night stay was well worth a visit”

Stayed here over night after arriving in Bilbao on the ferry, only a good hour away and is perfect to relax and unwind to start your holiday. Stayed here over night after arriving in Bilbao on the ferry, only a good hour away and is perfect to relax and unwind to start your holiday. Fantastic location set in the countryside with ample parking and undercover for motorcycles. Very friendly manager who could not do enough for us, speaks very good English too. We ate in the resteraunt at night and were very pleased with the quality and price, (Home made cheese cake is excellent). Rooms are spacious and well maintained, great shower ! Would definitely stay here again..

“Wonderful stay”

My wife and I stayed a single night, with dinner and breakfast. The building is old, full of character, stuffed full of antiques, and decor and furnishings were to the highest standard. Our room was one of the most comfortable and individual (in the best possible way) that we have ever stayed in.... lisää

My wife and I stayed a single night, with dinner and breakfast. The building is old, full of character, stuffed full of antiques, and decor and furnishings were to the highest standard. Our room was one of the most comfortable and individual (in the best possible way) that we have ever stayed in. Kettle and variety of teas in the room; excellent 3-course dinner with wine and coffee included for €18 each (plus tax); extremely quiet environment; and the lady who received us, cooked etc could not have been more helpful. This was one of the best stays of its type that we have ever had.

“Rural idyll”

We stayed here recently for one night en route to the ferry at Bilbao. It was very convenient as we allowed an hour to get to the ferry and that was plenty of time and allowed for refuelling too. We stayed here recently for one night en route to the ferry at Bilbao. It was very convenient as we allowed an hour to get to the ferry and that was plenty of time and allowed for refuelling too. The location for this hotel is superb - in beautiful countryside and all you can hear are cow bells ringing. It reminded us a lot of a Swiss style chalet and is very charming. It feels very old in parts and has some delightful old antique furniture and we especially loved the old wooden beamed ceilings. Our room was very large with 2 big twin beds, which were really comfortable. There was a kettle too and lovely bone china tea cups which was a real bonus. The bathroom was large and had a loo, bidet, an amazing old porcelain wash basin decorated with flowers (sadly cracked) in a old wash stand and a bath with a shower over it. Nice toiletries were provided too. We were the only people staying there and saw only one member of staff, who spoke very good English and was very welcoming - she couldn't have done more for us. She got us a beer and we sat outside listening to the cow bells. We also found some hazelnuts by the patio area, so she bought us out a nut cracker too so we didn't have to keep stamping on the nuts to break them open. We had dinner there which was interesting and perfectly satisfactory. We both had peas and ham, which turned out to be a big soup plate piled high with peas in a bit of liquid with a few bits of ham scattered in it. I had the pork in a tomato and rioja sauce which was delicious and my husband had the chorizo with fried potatoes which turned out to be egg and chips with a piece of chorizo on the side. Dessert was bought in cheesecake. Wine was included with the meal and our flagon was refilled when we'd finished it! Breakfast normally started at 8.30am, but we needed to leave before then. This was no problem at all and we had a lovely breakfast at 8am - masses of it - easily enough for 4 people. Freshly squeezed orange juice, copious amounts of Danish pastries and croissants, toasted French bread and a variety of jams and some ham and cheese. I wouldn't hesitate to come here again and to recommend it to others.
