“Real Luang Prabang atmosphere”

Very nice hotel, friendly staff, has very good Luang Prabang food with nice view from the restaurant, very artistic decoration, in the heart of Luang Prabang and walking distance to almost everywhere.

The frontage and reception area of this hotel is superb, checking in was quick with a welcome drink We had arrived on the evening of new year and we were pleased to see that the hotel had a new year dinner which was a 5 course meal with a glass of wine for 32 US dollars and was excellent. There is a small pool to the rear of reception which has chairs and a couple of tables around it. We didn’t see anyone use it as a swimming pool. We did however make use of the courtesy hotel shuttle one afternoon to visit the sister hotel that is located out of town, it was lovely. There was a large swimming pool with sun beds etc set in beautiful gardens and country side vistas. Our room at Villa Santi was basically a disappointment, it was in an annex across the road from the main building about 30 metres away. The actual building looked run down by comparison to the main building although there were outside and balcony seating. The room was an ok size and had good storage and AC. There is a fridge in the room which was noisy and the seal was very dirty. The room including furniture could do with a serious up date . The bathroom had a shower in the bath, no nonslip mat and frankly I have seen better showers in a backpacker's hostel . We were also disappointed with the quality of the bathroom toiletries. The room itself was not particularly clean . The mattress on the bed had seen better days and was not very comfortable. The main building in contrast is an architectural gem. In addition to reception and the Princess Dining Room it houses about 5 bedrooms which we have not seen internally nor have we seen these rooms advertised. Breakfast was served in the dining room with some tables on the veranda overlooking the front of the hotel . The breakfast was limited fruit choice, less than exciting and no yogurt available although eggs were cooked to order. The best thing about this hotel was the location, set in the old town within easy walking distance of some major attractions. There is also a plethora of bars, restaurants and shops nearby.
