“Good Quality but falls short on promise of relaxing sauna”

The hotel is very well presented, but a little remote. Facilities are good, especially the garden, that was well cultivated and showed the promise of an idyllic haven in the Andalusian summer. Room was very well appointed with excellent facilities and a great view to the Sierra Nevada snow capped mountains. Only negative for our stay was the non availability of the sauna etc. We had chosen this hotel, one of many on the route we were taking, so that we could arrive a little earlier and relax in the spa facilities. Instead we found ourselves at a loss in a remote hotel with no facilities. It took until the next morning for the male receptionist to explain, that as we were one of their very few guest that night it was not economically feasible to heat up the sauna etc.. We fully understood this , but still would have liked this explained when we booked, ort at least to have had a better explanation than ¿Sauna? ¡No! that we got the night before. We were so disappointed we canceled our return trip booking there and then. We were also concerned that despite the publicity saying free use of the gym and sauna facilities, discovering in the lift that there was now a small charge.(2,80E ish) In real terms still a barging, but irks a little when you had booked and it was included. We had booked an evening meal that was taken in the next building which housed the Cafeteria, Restaurant and shop. This was a well priced well cooked and presented Menu del Dia. The waiter was very attentive and friendly and ensured we were happy with our meal etc. Similarly the breakfast was taken in the Cafeteria and was the standard fare of coffee tostada and fresh orange juice, all of which was excellent. As a side note, despite the hotel being relatively remote it was very busy with locals, a sure sign of a good balance between quality and price. All in all we would rate the hotel very highly, but they need to put a rider in their publicity that there is a possibly that some of the facilities would not be available. We would recommend the hotel for its quality and food, but warn people that the key attraction may not be available in low season.

I am splitting the review in 2 parts. Hotel and Restaurant Hotel: The hotel is clean, big bedroom, two nice beds, clean a big bathroom, the bathtub somewhat uncomfortable for taking a shower, but in general, for the price the quality and service are good. And the most important, clean and comfortable without any luxuries (is a highway hotel, is normal). They allow pets and this is wonderful from the hotel. The TV has only national channels and the size is not so big, but is ok for a highway hotel. Restaurant The restaurant has a high price for the quality. The food is not bad, but the price is like better quality food We had two dinners and in the first, we requested Chuleton Añejo and it was like a normal meat. In the second dinner we requested Tabla de Quesos Manchego (Manchego cheese) and it was like "almost" white cheese from the supermarket. We asked for adding our breakfast to the room (our mistake), because we ate two "bocadillo" (spanish sandwich with a big hard bread with something inside) and coffe and we paid 13 eur in the hotel bill for each breakfast. For the quality it was so so expensive.
