Hotel Soline has a lot to enjoy. It's situated perfectly along the seafront with a lovely shady walk around the bay one way, and plenty of restaurants and bars the other. Breakfast was a good choice of cooked and continental, and at dinner (served between 7 and 9pm) there was always a decent variety of meat, fish and vegetable dishes as well as salads and pizza to choose from and, although occasionally the odd dish wasn't as hot as it could be, overall we had no complaints. In general dishes were reasonably well labeled for those with food intolerances/allergies. The restaurant seating area is very big - if you choose to sit outside and enjoy the wonderful sunsets some of it is undercover. Inside it does lack a certain ambience because of the size. If you enjoy swimming the pool is excellent - a large section of it being indoors. There's also a kiddies pool. We didn't much like the sunbed situation - on busy days it was sometimes difficult to find a free bed and if you were lucky to secure one you felt a bit squashed in. Considering the size of the hotel the sunbed space is relatively small. We prefer not to join in the 'reserving sunbeds with towels before breakfast' game so we often found ourselves heading to the beach. On quieter days we did enjoy the pool area and towels are provided and exchanged as often as required. Reception staff were all very helpful and friendly as was our wine waiter (well both of them actually). Service was a bit slow at the bar sometimes because there was only ever one poor guy working hard, rushing round trying to serve and collect payment from everyone. Fine though if you're not in any hurry and we had a couple of good lunches there. We booked a superior double room which was spacious and had a great view over the sea from our balcony. The beds were comfortable (I slept like a log) and there were tea making facilities in the room. Great drench shower.

Just back from a week at Soline. From the outside the building is not very attractive, but step inside and you will find a spacious reception and sitting area which has been refurbished. Our room was on the top floor with a partial sea view (through the trees) over the front of the hotel, The room was modern, although not very large and with a small balcony. The shower room was a good size with large walk-in shower and good lighting. The room was very quiet and the bed comfortable. We stayed on a half board basis, but chose to eat out at local restaurants on several occasions. The restaurant food was adequate, however, for vegetarians/vegans the choice was limited. It would also be helpful for dishes to be marked as being vegetarian, rather than guessing. The breakfast was fine, the pastries were excellent, and the coffee good. But beware of the 'fruit juice' it all tasted more like squash which was disappointing. We didn't use the hotel pool, partly because the beach is literally across the pavement from the hotel garden, and partly because the sun loungers were all too close to one another - I think because there was not much space around the pool. The location of the hotel is fabulous - it is possible to walk for miles in both directions along the promenade which is mainly shaded by trees with beautiful views of the sea. There is a good supermarket a couple of minutes walk from the hotel selling snacks, beer, wine, soft drinks etc. There is also a good variety of restaurants and bars. We booked a trip to the Biokovo Mountains with the hotel which was a great trip, taking in the Skywalk as well as travelling to the top of the mountain by jeep. /we also booked a boat trip to Brac from one of the stands near the hotel - again a great trip with a good lunch and drinks included. Back to the hotel, I would like to give a mention to Robert on reception - very friendly and extremely helpful in carrying our suitcase up the steps to catch the bus back to the airport.

The rooms are lovely with stunning views. The staff on the whole are really nice with the exception of the staff in the coffee shop who never smile and at times rude in attitude. The food overall though has been excellent. The two main issues are the buffet area is small and absolutely rammed at meal times. The second issue is there are about 40 sun beds for a hotel of hundreds so you end up spending 20euros a day on a sun-bed on the beach then extra for an umbrella. This seems wrong for a 4 star hotel. If you want one of the very few hotel sun beds be prepared to get up at 6am. A further thing to note is this is not a hotel for you if you have any mobility issues. There are stairs everywhere and very few lifts.
