The hotel, in my opinion, is...mediocre. It could definitely do better. We had no problems checking in but that may be because we arrived about 1am. The room was basic, a little tired but fairly clean. However, the walls were the thinnest I've ever come across and the hotel is very noisy all night long. Luckily I don't require a lot of sleep. The pool was its saving grace although the tiles around it are treacherously slippery. I was also surprised to learn that no food could be eaten around the pool, only at the bar and I felt the staff were quite intimidating at times when enforcing the (many)rules. No ball games etc. The restaurant was huge and very noisy. It had the atmosphere of a school canteen and again some of the staff were unfriendly and unwelcoming. Lots of petty rules making for an unpleasant experience. The food was okay, breakfast better than dinner I thought. Watch out for food marked as vegetarian but containing meat or fish. I could not have eaten in the hotel every night so we dined out on numerous occasions. It’s a shame as I think this hotel is surviving on its reputation but as time goes by it has become ‘has been’ or and has certainly seen better days. I certainly wouldn't stay there again especially now I've seen lots of far superior hotels with polite and friendly staff for a similar price. Hints: Leave your room 10 mins earlier if you’re meeting friends, as the lifts can be rather frustrating. No, scrap that, make it 15 mins as in actual fact they're extremely annoying and unreliable. Don't make eye contact with the guys selling photoshoots by the pool. The sessions we saw take place were cringeworthy. They are also VERY persistent. Take ear plugs! We did have a fabulous time regardless because we made the most of the lovely beeches and went on lots of walk towards the old town.

“Very poor food.”

We arrived home yesterday after a week’s stay in a family room in Ocas side. We had no problems at all with the rooms or lifts in this side. We arrived home yesterday after a week’s stay in a family room in Ocas side. We had no problems at all with the rooms or lifts in this side. Some family members stayed in pelicanos & said the lifts were a nightmare. Pool area is very big but very clean. Outside food & drinks are not allowed poolside but you can buy from the bar which is reasonably priced & the coffees are nice too. For me the hotel is too big & busy. There’s no personal touches & there were things going off but not a lot, it was the same things everyday, something that kids ran across pool & water polo. We were half board & have stayed in lots of hotels & this is by far the worst for food. We are not picky eaters at all but it’s pretty much the same every night with exception of 1 or 2 dishes so we ate out quite a lot. Pool side food which is paid for is nice especially loaded fries. I probably wouldn’t stay again unless on a long weekend with the girls & would definitely stay self catering.

“Short stay”

We went off season for a short get away. Sadly the main pool wasn’t open so we had to do with one in a back yard incased in concrete surround. It is what Benidorm is and the hotel did what it had to do for the few day we was there. Food was as you would expect
