“Mixed anniversary holiday”

Wasn't the best but at the same time it wasn't awful. Food was delicious! Just wasn't very hot sometimes. We only used the pool area once or twice we mainly went out and about walking and exploring a lot which was our choice. 1 or 2 staff not very nice sadly. Weren't told check out time when we checked in so on last day we came back to find the room locked hubby paid for us to have it longer but wasn't best pleased. Charged to use the safe another negative as that was €18 gone for the week. We hadn't been on a holiday where you check out late since we were much younger so we had no idea by the way. Room when we arrived the floor was really dirty. Maids were fine with cleaning then on though. We would maybe return in the future to this hotel if not definitely to Matagorda as it was close to airport. So close to the beach and local amenities etc. We were there 7 nights for our first year wedding anniversary (29th) and hubbys 39th b'day. Mentioned when we checked in but nothing was said more or anything nice to make it special :/

“Family Holiday - mixed honest review.”

We have just returned home after a lovely week at the Sol. The weather was fantastic - albeit very breezy. The rooms were very spacious and clean. Animation team brilliant, they were always doing something around the pool - my daughter loved playing water polo and water basketball, and they worked hard in the evenings keeping the little ones entertained. The photographer on site is nuts! But we got some fantastic photos done. Location is spot on, only a very short transfer from the airport and it was good fun to watch the planes coming and going. The only thing that lets this hotel down is the selection and quality of food on offer, and how the restaurant is laid out (felt like a chaotic school canteen). My 8 year old couldn't find anything to eat other than plain pasta and chips. My Dad isn't a fussy eater, and even he struggled. We only realised a few days in that we could ask the staff to make her something. We ended up eating out most lunchtimes and having salads / toasties in the evenings. It kind of defeats the point of all inclusive, but we needed to get her fed. Not a fresh vegetable to be seen (i.e broccoli / carrots etc) when we where there. I did have one decent meal where they made some fresh pork kebabs which were actually quite tasty, but you need to grab them fresh off the grill otherwise they get dumped in little serving bowls in front to go cold. Deserts were good though. The drinks were also very nice (ask for extra alcohol in your cocktails!) Personally I wouldn't return to the hotel based on the restaurant / food situation, but the the plus points are the staff, location and room sizes. Overall a decent place for a family holiday (food aside).
