The renovations are done - so reviews referencing those issues are dated. Hotel has a great location adjacent to the piers and Old San Juan. The rooms are large and reasonably well equipped, though the thermostat/ ac are challenging to control. Room furniture is functional but not luxurious, and appreciate the wood laminate floors instead of carpet given the humidity. Breakfast area is nice but the buffet could use some improvement. Eggs are definitely instant and other offerings are uninspired, except for the coffee, which is very good. Staff are very friendly and helpful. We had no issues with housekeeping. With an improved breakfast, we’d give the hotel 5*.

Overall, the hotel is what can be expected from your typical Marriott property concerning service, room accommodations, and amenities. If you are a cruise passenger, either embarking or disembarking in San Juan, this hotel is a PRIME location to either begin or end your voyage being directly adjacent to Pier 4. It's also very convenient to attractions in Old Town San Juan. As a result, the hotel is often at capacity and room rates reflect the high demand and prime location. Reception is on the second floor of the hotel, 1 level up from where you enter from the street. The services offered by the hotel are exceptional. The rooftop pool offers a nice view over the bay and the cruise/ferry terminals. Rooms were nicely appointed with some having balconies or being corner locations. Of note, the hotel restaurant, Kueros, was particularly unremarkable. On the first night of our visit, the hotel was hosting a bunch of so-called social media 'influencers" in what seemed to be an attempt to promote the location. The music from the band was SO loud you couldn't even hear yourself much less anyone else in your party. We requested to sit somewhere behind the band, but alas, everyone else had the same idea. We got up and left. The music was so loud even the staff at the reception desk outside of the restaurant couldn't have normal conversations with guests checking in or needing assistance. We found ample choices for dining just a couple of blocks away and an easy walk from the hotel. The breakfast buffet in Kueros was like staying at a Hampton Inn with scrambled eggs that looked and tasted like they came out of a box. Sides of fruit, Danish, and other choices were just as bland leaving us wishing we had chosen to find a location on nearby streets. Service both at dinner and at breakfast was basically 'fend for yourself'.
