Excellent hotel that delivers on its name. We had the perfect holiday in the most amazing peaceful location yet surrounded by fantastic services, food, facilities and the most hospitable staff who genuinely cared for our experience. The pools are perfect with swimming lanes and separate areas for the kids. The beach is beautiful and expansive. The restaurants serve the most delicious food and service from Japanese, Chinese hotpot, buffets modern grill. For the first time apart from one night we eat in every single of our 9 nights. The hotel is clean well maintained and is a credit to its management and staff. Everyone from the pleasant maid who made our room up and left stories for us on local culture, to the waiting staff, pool and beach staff, reserve rangers were so accommodating and dedicated to us having a fantastic time. By far the best hotel we have stayed in and we will be back. Thank you Shanghai LA.

“Lovely Calming Environment. Facilities and food excellent,”

We stayed here on route to Sepilok after flying from the UK and it was just what we needed, 4 nights of relaxation and luxury for my family. The staff were extremely attentive, the food was excellent we didn’t have any cause to moan amongst ourselves at all. My kids loved the pool at the Garden Wing and the Football Pool. The horse riding was a highlight with the attendants excellent and the horses lovely. Overall our experience really was first class

“Beautiful place, lovely resort, not quite top luxury standard”

Staff are very hard working and friendly. Rooms spacious. Transfers smooth. Approx 1 hour from the KK airport. Rooms spacious and well appointed. Huge balcony with large outdoor tiled tub. (Understandably it's so big you can fit in a number of children who want to play in it and my neighbours did fit in a number of children so it was quite noisy!) F&B is of a good standard I would say. The individual restaurants are good quality but you need to book. The two main buffet Restaurants are not of a five-star standard at all. The food is okay and there is a huge range, you can eat a lot if you want to, but it is much more like a fairly mid-range cruise buffet or all-inclusive not five star. Very loud, very crowded. Desserts and pastries in particular need a lot of work to bring them up to five-star standard. They're all tasty and pleasant but need to be seriously elevated in terms of quality and presentation. The main buffet restaurant has a strange children's area right in the middle in front of the buffet. Napkins and table settings look very mediocre. (I'm using as my measure the buffet at the Shangri-La in Bangkok) (Overhearing some guests. I think it is possible that some are on all-inclusive actually) Wildlife team are friendly and helpful, you can (pay to) take a dawn walk or go bird watching. Beautiful golf course if you like that sort of thing. Beach is absolutely enormous and takes literally 5 minutes to walk down to the water, so people rarely do that because the sand is too hot to walk on. There are some beds on the beach but it is a long way to come back to use the toilets. Some people do go on the beach of course at dawn and again at sunset when it is cool at. I was in the ocean wing and there were always plenty of empty beds with parasols available. The pool staff are extremely hard-working and will bring you ice towels or a pleasant snack in the afternoon. Cold water is always available. The grounds are beautifully kept and the gardeners are very hard-working. Indeed, all staff should be commended.
