“A tranquil escape”

We stayed as a group of three friends in a "My Favourite Club" room, with pool and sea view. The hotel and resort are just beautiful and exactly what we had hoped for when booking. There is not much to do in S'Algar but for us that was a positive and part of the reason we chose to stay here. It's easy to catch the bus to Mahon, or the courtesy bus to Punto Prima. There is a lovely little square with a bar/ restaurant and mini supermarket, and we also found another mini supermarket just up the road. The service was excellent, the room was really nice and the bed & sofa bed were really comfy. There was a bottle of cava in the room and they had left me a cake as I was celebrating my 50th birthday. Lovely little touches. The breakfast was really good, but if you go later they do not always refill the pastries etc. We were staying half board and the evening food was okay, we only paid £5 each day to go from B&B to HB, so it was value for money. I thought we may have had water at the table included with the HB but we had to pay for all drinks with dinner. As it was early in the season we were able to use the Beach Club free of charge, as the hotel pool wasn't open. The loungers were so comfy and I really enjoyed using the balinese beds that you would get charged 90e for for usually! There were background Ibiza tunes which just added to the ambience. I agree with other comments about the advertising being misleading. You shouldn't use the pictures of the beach club as the main advertising, when it isn't included in the price. The pool next to the beach club which belongs to the hotel looks perfectly lovely and has the same loungers as the club. I'm just not sure how they would make it work when the charges come in to place. There were some negatives, but not enough to give anything other than 5 stars, just silly annoying things that are simple to get right. We booked for 3 people but there was no bedding for the sofa bed, only two sets of towels, two robes and slippers, two mugs, two loungers etc. The hotel quickly rectified this but it should have been right in the first place. The extra lounger was removed on the first morning but we couldn't be bothered to ask for it back again. There was a complimentary mini bar, but no bottle opener! Again easily sorted but not hard to get right. We should have had access to "the My Favourite Club" lounge for complimentary drinks and snacks throughout the day (part of the reason we didn't bother with AI) but it hadn't yet opened for the season and we weren't offered any complimentary drinks etc to compensate for this. One "negative" about the resort. As a keen open water swimmer I was hoping to swim a lot whilst here. The resort advertise bathing platforms but there doesn't appear to be any entry points in to the sea, and if you could get in I have no idea how you would manage to get out again. It was quite choppy so I don't know if there are usually portable ladders which had been removed for safety. If you are after a sea swim we walked a mile down the coast path to Alcufar, which is just beautiful, a gorgeous little cove with white washed houses and glorious clear water. There is a restaurant right next the beach which looked lovely. Overall, for a peaceful, idyllic getaway it is absolutely perfect. We were only there for a few days but relaxed instantly. The staff and service are excellent. I would definitely return.
