Looking for something in the heart of Thiruvananthapuram and guided but some nice reviews I decided on Saj Luciya. This was a most fortuitous choice. Though the landline phone number is obsolete I was able to get across on hotel’s reception mobile number +91-98953 11511. As the hotel is under renovations, though it does not inconvenience guests staying, because the intercom was not working this number also came in handy for calling desk. This hotel is an old one but is kept well maintained. I am sure it will be perfect after they are done with the upgrade. The hotel is the best located one in my opinion if you want to see Thiruvananthapuram. It is in the Fort, the classiest commercial part of the town, and the closest good hotel to Padmanabhaswamy Temple complex. The area is lined with heritage buildings for anyone who loves colonial and Travancore royal architecture. You can get all kinds of transport and shopping options in all price ranges and great place to walk around in the evenings. From a lovely façade, beautiful heritage lobby, courteous and nice staff, great room size, amenities, air-conditioning, solid furniture and furnishings, etc. all display quiet elegance without any ostentatiousness. Pictures speak in a thousand words. The standard of cleanliness was high, typical of the Kerala I saw. As we would be able to partake of breakfast only one of the two days we stayed I opted for paid breakfast. The breakfast was only Indian and vegetarian. The small pool and seating area with mist sprays are a good place to sit in the evening. On improvements I would suggest the lift controls, taking care of floor polish, frayed insides of lap shades which become visible when switched on and most importantly the strength of wifi signal which has become an indispensable service, especially so with the Android TV. I used my own internet for work and TV, but this could be critical for other guests. I hope these will be addressed when renovations are complete. I would highly recommend it for someone visiting Thiruvananthapuram for the first time an desirous of making the most of their time on account of its great location, accessibility and quality of property and service. I thank the staff for providing a nice experience.
