“Apartment Stay”

Its a apartment based stay with one living room with kitchen facility, separate bedroom and bathroom. Its very close to Iper Coop supermarket. Little far from Bologna city center. Cost around 50 Euro to 70 Euro depend upon long stay the price will differ.

I stayed at the Residence Galaxy for three weeks during the summer while doing a program at the University of Bologna. I was really hesitant at first - how good can a hotel be that only charged me €30 a night? I was pleasantly surprised, however. My single room was spacious and clean. I had a large, king-sized bed, a private bathroom with a bidet, a kitchenette, and a living area. I was quite pleased - most definitely worth the price. The negatives were definitely outweighed by the positives, but they exist. The smell of smoke in the halls is almost overpowering, despite the many signs demanding you not to smoke. My room overlooked the entrance to a tunnel and a supermarket, but then again, I obviously wasn't going to get something amazing (the other option is overlooking a parking lot). It's a bit out of the way from the city, but there's a bus stop across the street. You just jump on the #18 bus all the way to the end. The room is cleaned only once a week, but the worst part of the hotel is that they don't empty the trash for you! You have to take it out and toss it yourself, which is really annoying and gross. I feel like that should definitely be changed. Also, some of the staff can be a bit frosty - probably not fans of Americans. All in all though, well worth the price, and if I'm strapped for cash and in the area, it's at the top of my list.

I was attending the University of Bologna for a summer school course. The Residence Galaxy was recommended to me and it was a very nice place to stay. Unfortunately all of Europe was experiencing a record heat was this summer and Bologna was no exception. The room was large and clean and in a good location. Convenient to the bus and next door to a great mall with a fabulous grocery. The air conditioning at the Galaxy was having a hard time keeping the heat at bay. We did buy a fan on our first day in Bologna and it helped. The kitchen was suitably equipped and we did most meals in the room. Be aware that the buses stop running early in the evening and you most likely will have to take a taxi or walk back to the Galaxy if you are in the City Center in the evenings. For and extended stay in Bologna this is a good option.

It turns out that I stayed here for the first time probably around twenty years ago when it was a hotel and served as the site of a small scientific meeting. I recall it as being quite pleasant, but don't remember many details. Following a serious fire, the building was refurbished and became the residence and focus of the Center for Advanced Studies for the University of Bologna. A group of select students were house there, and when I visited the University I was also house there in what were rather roomy and convenient studio apartments. The convenience was considerably increased by the shopping center and huge super market and the regular bus line to the old city of Bologna. Although outside the old city the hotel is actually within walking distance (about 15-20 minutes) to the train station, although I wouldn't do it with a big suitcase. This time I found that that university had sold out so the unchanged building has reverted to an apartment hotel, with no obvious changes or improvements. The good points still exist, and the price definitely makes it attractive. However, as one reviewer has noted, it apparently has become more apartment than hotel. For a week stay I was given one small shampoo which was not replaced when exhausted. Ditto the toilet paper, and it was explained that I woudl have to purchase my own. (Believe it or not, it isn't easy to purchase one roll of toilet paper in a supermarket.) I concur with the remarks of other reviewers. It takes forever for the hot water to get to the shower, and the internet is an unmitigated disaster. To the owners' credit they promised me it will be replaced "net week". I also found the small number of electrical outlets annoying in this day of recharging virtually everything. Having said all that I enjoy the location, the supermarket, the convenience of having a small refrigerator with fresh fruit, cheese, etc., and they do serve a pretty good capuccino down int he lobby. I suspect that I will opt to stay there again if I return to Bologna for more that a a couple of days.

I stayed in this hotel for just one night and paid around 50 euros for a room with a double bed. The room was big, clean and basic facilities are offered: fridge, hairdryer, tv and free Wi-Fi, although the Wi-Fi signal is very bad. Breakfast is not included: the hotel has a small bar, good to have a coffee but with very limited choices. This hotel is located a bit far from the city centre (20-30 min walk), however there is a shopping centre right across the road and I would recommend having breakfast there. Overall I would say this is a two star hotel but I will give it three stars because I think it's a good value choice. However I would not recommend the location for someone who wants to visit the city centre.
