“Old place showing age”

Fairly well managed but the whole place is showing its age. Staff are friendly and many food options around. Will need to use taxi to get around as the place is remote from major transit hubs. 30 minute drive to Incheon airport and a couple shopping malls 10 minute drive away each.

Lobby staff adequate. But so many problems with the hotel. I stayed here 5 nights because I have spent so many day and nights in Seoul during transits, and thought it might be a nice change. Re-thinking my strategy now. This part of Incheon (Songdo) is old, shabby, dilapidated, dirty. Many restaurants nearby but difficult for westerners to navigate. Most are seafood. There is a pub just outside the hotel parking lot where you can get pizzas and spicy chicken if you tire of Korean food. Two nights I didn't have hot water. Tried to call the lobby but the phone didn't work. Tried using the house phone by the elevator - it didn't work. Went to the lobby and informed them of both problems, when to dinner, came back and hot water was on/fixed. Second time it happened, I again had to walk down to the lobby to inform them. And when I inquired about my phone still not working I was informed (by the front desk clerk while pointing at a phone), "Yes, phones don't work." That was it. Hot water was again available when I returned from dinner. The only bright spots about the hotel were the very responsive and kind housekeeping staff and the excellent view to the west in the evenings. Of note, the website claims this hotel has room amenities, but the front desk has a sign that you must purchase toothbrush, toothpaste and razors. The website at hotels.com also claims there is a safe in the room - there isn't. (A word to the wise for situations where you do not have a room safe: 1. Call the front desk and have the room cleaned while you are in it; and, 2. Always pack a small combination cable lock to carry with you when you travel so when you leave your room you can lock your suitcase and cable it to a piece of furniture.)
