“WONDERFUL”

We returned from the Protur Sa Coma Playa Hotel & Spa last week after a wonderful and relaxing ten days holiday. The hotel is well laid out with lots of amenities and very friendly and helpful staff. It is spacious and easy to find your way round. It is part of a group of hotels and you can use those facilities, such as golf and waterparks as well. It is kept clean to a high standard and the communal areas don’t feel crowded and have lots of seating. There are nice touches like large paintings and ornaments which give it a more personal feel. The staff at Reception were welcoming and friendly and couldn’t do enough for you; they were very responsive and when we had an issue with the balcony door lock, they arranged for it to be fixed immediately. We had a lovely clean and tidy room which was spacious and had a balcony overlooking the main pool area. There were good facilities such as free wi-fi, inexpensive minibar re-stocked each day and air-conditioning which worked well. There was plenty of storage space and the bathroom was clean and bright with a high pressure shower. It was a quiet room and we were never disturbed at night. The cleaners were brilliant and kept the room spotless and always greeted us when we met. The restaurant was fantastic. It is a light and bright room with well-spaced tables. The staff welcome you on arrival and there is a great selection of high quality food. We were staying half-board and thought that we received excellent value for money. At breakfast there was an extensive selection of continental as well as cooked breakfasts. You could have a full English if you wanted it every day but if you wanted lighter options there was a wide selection of cereals, fruit, cold meats and cheese, fruit, pastries, bread and local delicacies and as much coffee and other hot beverages as you want. The evening meals were great with a wide selection of delicious dishes. There would be 7-8 different main courses each night and they changed each day. There was also a great variety of starters and desserts. There was also a chef who would cook omelettes and eggs at breakfast and different cuts of meat and fish in the evening for you which was a really good idea and we enjoyed the freshly cooked steaks and fish particularly. There was a lot of space at the food counters and it was quick and easy to get the food we wanted. The tables were always clean with white table cloths in the evening. There was a pleasant outdoor seating area if you didn’t want to sit inside. The restaurant staff were extremely attentive and helpful and were always quick to respond to any requests. If you want a change from the hotel restaurant you can book a table at one of the four themed restaurants: Indian, Asian, Italian and Tex Mex and Grill. We tried two of them and really enjoyed the meals, which were almost as good as the hotel restaurant. Before we arrived we thought we would want to eat out a few times at restaurants outside the hotel, but because the food was so good we only ate out once and that was when we visited Palma for the day. The swimming pool was a good size and clean. It seemed very safe as there was lifeguard on duty all the time. The poolside area is kept scrupulously clean. There were lots of sun loungers which were well spaced out and it didn’t feel cramped. There was a good amount of shaded area if you needed it. There was also a smaller shallow pool for younger children. Every morning there were free aquazumba sessions provided by an excellent instructor. The poolside café / bar was great providing delicious lunches served by fantastic, friendly waiters. There is also another pool which is only for adults in the aptly named Tranquility Area if you want a change of scenery which also has a small café / bar. The main bar was where the entertainment was held each night – a variety of acts: musical, comedy and even a magician – all great fun. The bar staff were great fun and very friendly and made suggestions as to which cocktails we might try next. It was highly enjoyable with guests from different countries getting up to dance to the music. The hotel is one of a group of hotels situated close to each other. It would be easy to stay in the hotel grounds due to the wide range of amenities. However, there is an excellent if busy beach ten minutes’ walk away with lots of shops: supermarkets, bars, restaurants and gift shops in between. It is also easy to walk or get the bus to the neighbouring resorts of Cala Millor and S’illot. The hotel also provides free bicycles and we cycled to S’illot and found a delightful, quiet rocky cove to swim in. There are many things about the hotel that we enjoyed but what makes the Protur Sa Coma Playa Hotel & Spa such a happy experience is the staff who are exceptional. They were incredibly friendly and helpful. They all speak good English and seemed to enjoy our attempts to converse in Spanish. The staff seemed to be happy in their work, always smiling and had a great sense of humour. We had conversations with a lot of the staff and they were always friendly, often very humorous and we were surprised that some of the staff had spent over twenty years working for Protur and one of the waiters who is sadly retiring this year had worked for the company for forty years. It doesn’t surprise us as the ethos of the hotel seems to be putting their guests first and to do that you need to make sure you’re committed to your staff as well. It would be great to name some of the individual staff members who made our holiday so wonderful, but we are afraid that we might miss someone out – so a big thank you to all of you for giving us a lovely time - we really enjoyed our time at the hotel. We have already booked for next year and look forward to staying at the hotel and seeing all the staff again.

A big hotel with lots of things to do...i think 3 hotels are connected in total and then you can use all activities for free or for a small amount of money. You can also upgrade, so you have a private pool and acess to the spa part. We had breakfast and dinner included in our stay. The dinning area was huge and you could eat inside or outside. And it was buffet style. But always good quality - you could also have the chefs prepare meat at dinner and different things at breakfast, such as omelet and stuff like that... But between the 3 hotels, different restaurants were also "attached" - but i guess you had to have another kind of accommodation than we had, to use them. I actually don't know how it worked. The hotel is placed near the beach. 5 min. walk through the Sa Coma "city" wich had a fair amount of shopping possibilities - not a hole lot, but it was okay... we borrowed bikes at the hotel and cycled to the next "city" one if the days. It was not that far. We also went hiking, at a hiking area just beside the hotel. This was one of our best vacations, we would definitely come again!

“Nice stay but the swim up room wasn't worth it.”

This was our second time at this hotel as we had such an enjoyable stay last year. This was our second time at this hotel as we had such an enjoyable stay last year. We decided to upgrade our room to a swim up pool and go all inclusive to save money on soft drinks and lunch which cost us a fortune last year. Overall, it was a fantastic experience. Clean public areas, very friendly staff, food is very good quality. I would say my partner who is a vegetarian struggled a little as the options were very repetitive (curried veg or curried veg pasta alternated each day). The only reason I'm marking down from a 5 is that I personally don't think the swim up pool room was worth it. The room itself wasn't as clean as we had found it last year (pubic hairs on the bed sheets, there was dried paint flakes all over the room when we arrived which I had to brush up, dust and grime in the corners of the room). The pool itself was not maintained as much as it should have been. There was bird faeces along the side that wasn't cleaned the whole time we stayed. Our sun lounger was also hit by a bird and despite us leaving a note to ask them if they wouldn't mind cleaning it, it was never touched. We also noticed that the surface of the water had a lot of scum sitting on it which didn't make it that appealing. My thoughts were that because it was nearing the end of the season it had been well used and kind of forgotten about. Also something to bare in mind that depending on the time of the year, the pool/lounge area went into cold shadow from about 2pm and the pool was freezing. I certainly wouldn't choose this room type again.

Can’t complain overall, however, our first room was located on ground floor next to family pool area. Sadly we had no door to shower opposite the French doors so felt rather exposed. Asked for another room, we were offered 2nd floor overlooking gardens. The room stank of damp - due to an obvious leak in toilet - it did however have a bathroom door. Final kick was leaving expensive hair straighteners in the room only to be told a day after making the hotel aware AND offering to pay to have them sent home,they had not been found. So disappointing. So will not be returning
