“Pricey hotel on outskirts of Honfleur”

My partner booked this hotel at the last minute after a very long drive from the UK. It is on the outskirts of Honfleur so not close enough to walk into the town, it is a half hour walk along the beach. The grounds and the actual building are stunning, with a chic, relaxed vibe. It was lovely to stay in an original chateau. It is family run and the family pets casually roam around and make you feel at home (that’s if you like pets which we do). There is an indoor pool in the grounds of the hotel which can be pre-booked for private use during the current health crisis. All staff adhered to current H&S measures. The room itself was small with the toilet at the opposite end of the room from the sink which proved difficult in the middle of the night. The bed itself was super comfortable with linen bedding which doesn’t look great but was very comfortable. The restaurant food was good but a little pricey. The outside area of the restaurant overlooks the beach and the lights of La Havre. Staff were polite even though they were very busy. Blankets are provided if you wish to stay outside when it gets chilly. At €400 for a room per night I did not feel it was worth that amount of money however we did have an enjoyable stay. I think next time we would chose to stay closer to Honfleur within walking distance of the town.

This wonderful hotel is situated in a marvelous location. It has a wonderful view on the estuary (shame about the industrial zone across the water). The hotel offers a direct access to the beach which ensures great strolls with your dog. The rooms are in an old farm house typical of the area. The hotel is not far from the centre of Honfleur (by car!), and beautiful villages and seaside towns such as Deauville and Houlgate are near. The great city of Caen is only 80 kilometers further on. The hotel has a great restaurant. The rooms do not have a fridge, and the toilet and bathroom are on opposite sides of the bed which makes handwashing during the night a nuisance. Especially since all lights are automatically switched on by movement. The service is great and the staff is very friendly. The breakfast is a disaster. Every morning the coffee was luke warm. A poor set of jams and some fruit are offered. But a cheese/meat board (4 very small pieces of cheese and two meagre slices of meat cost an extra 14 (!) Euros. It is a disgrace. The sauna costs extra as well. Although the stay was great, one feels a little cheated. Not very chique for a hotel that boasts 4 stars.

“Beautiful location ,désappointement on food”

We had lunch last Thursday ,the building are gorgeous and the view is awesome .the food is very desappointing fair quality nothing great and the quantity is way short .After all you go to a restaurant to eat !We will not return to that place .
