“A lovely hotel with an awful breakfast experience.”

Lovely clean and well appointed hotel with good staff and a nice pool. BUT the breakfast experience was terrible. We booked for 9-30 and had to wait half an hour to get in. The restaurant was understaffed and the coffee machines didn’t work well. There was no chance of ordering the extra hot food... more

Lovely clean and well appointed hotel with good staff and a nice pool. BUT the breakfast experience was terrible. We booked for 9-30 and had to wait half an hour to get in. The restaurant was understaffed and the coffee machines didn’t work well. There was no chance of ordering the extra hot food as the staff were too stretched. The room was badly laid out. The Manager needs to call in an efficiency expert as the tables with food were in the wrong place and there was no need to change tablecloths after each set of people. Our first Parador and the breakfast experience really spoilt the visit.

“Nice Parador but some small issues need addressing”

Beautiful old nunnery now tastefully converted into 4 star hotel. The interiors and garden with small swimming pool are very attractive. Our room was large and the bed comfortable. Unfortunately the handle in the shower/bath was coming off the wall and there was no shower gel in the bottle. I didn’t think that room should be allocated until the handle was repaired since anyone could slip and fall in the bath. I did ask the receptionist to provide shower gel but it wasn’t done so had to ask again before it was replaced. Evening meals in Merida seem to begin very late obviously a cultural view but the restaurant didn’t open until 8 30pm . Otherwise we were offered ham and cheese tapas good but not dinner. Obviously this is why I was only able to give 3 out of 5.

“Handy location, close to the main attractions and decent parking!”

A little disappointed in this parador. Had been really looking forward to it. I think partly my disappointment related to the amount of building works going on around the hotel. The level of cleanliness, dust related,wasnt great, I did see the staff cleaning regularly I will add, Staff very friendly, particularly the bar staff. The whole pool area and garden was a bit of a mess, it was the start of the season and the pool and garden definitely needed a touch up paint wise, maybe it’s due for an upgrade. There were some glasses left in the garden are a for two days, breakfast was very good, up to parador standard. Dinner less impressive. We had just been to Guadalupe paradors and went on to Cadiz, all four rated four star, snd Merida fell short in my opinion. I do think it is related to the building work in fairness. The room was good. Am sad to be writing a negative view, if it gets done up I will revisit!
