“Great place to stay - we would return”

Whilst this hotel is not perfect I still award it 5 Stars. The ambience is genteel and the architecture of the inner courtyard/atrium is super. Whilst this hotel is not perfect I still award it 5 Stars. The ambience is genteel and the architecture of the inner courtyard/atrium is super. Breakfast provided a good spread, good coffee and fresh fruit. The rooms strike as cozy but don'y really stand up to extreme scrutiny. At some point they will need to be modernised. Our bathroom was large but the shower hose was perished so flooded the room. THis sort of thing should routinely be inspected. If you have a car, parking will present a real issue. 100%, despite a few issues, we would stay again.

“Great Hotel, Location and very Friendly Staff”

We loved our stay at this hotel. It is located right in the heart of Baeza, and we didn't have too much difficulty parking in a street only a couple of minutes walk away. The building is an old beautiful building and you can really appreciate the building while having breakfast in the patio. All of the staff we spoke to were incredibly friendly aswell. Both the ladies working at reception on the Saturday and Sunday afternoon were extremely helpful and were pleased to take the time to explain us a bit about the local area. All the staff at breakfast also were very friendly. Would definitely recommend this hotel!

“My favourite hotel in Spain, dating from the 16th century”

We stayed here while exploring Jaen, Ubeda and Sabiote, and had a really lovely stay – one of my favourite hotel in the world! The Palacio was built in the 16th century, and has an amazing hall, where you have breakfast – it is such a wonderful place to sit! And a very good breakfast! The service is excellent, and Andres at reception had helped me on the phone and then was a great help again with recommendations for restaurants. He recommended ‘Canela en Rama’ – we had the best tapas we have ever had – great taste with a modern twist – the cook clearly varies what he does and adds his own touch. You can park just along from the hotel (not on the main road) –I think we parked in Pablo de Olvide – make sure you buy a ticket if you want to park in the early morning or in the evening as there is a traffic warden – she is very friendly and will help you pay if you have a problem! You can’t drive up to the doors of the Palacio – so try to park there if you can – there are quite a few places and it’s cheap to park (about 55c an hour for the periods when you have to pay). The room we had was large and comfortable, and we had a lush bath – very relaxing to lie in a huge bath when you have been sightseeing. The bed is comfortable, with a long thin pillow (a small bolster) – you may want to ask for more pillows. Our room had windows which looked onto the hall. My favourite thing about the whole hotel is the large wooden carved ceiling by reception – it is stunningly beautiful – and with all the other features of the hotel, just makes it an amazing place to stay and experience – with this hotel, you will definitely remember it as an experience, whether you were most impressed by the six hundred-year-old ceiling, the large staircase or the hall with all its arches on all floors. We will definitely come back to Baeza, just to stay in this hotel!

Palacio de Los Salcedo is a historical private palace with a 1990s style whimsical country house hotel conversion. A lovely property in a great central location, if you have no car to park, this hotel is hard to beat. If you like modern style and/or conversions truthful to historical style, then look away, because although comfortable, the refurbishment has not done the original texture of the building justice. The result looks bad, but is very comfortable, from the good beds, crisp linen, tot he powerful showers and full bathtubs in both rooms we stayed in. [spacer height="20px"]It is here that we made the mistake not scrutinising the room pictures and not noticing that the cheapest “Economy” Rooms have no window, and we appeared stuck with a windowless, airless room for two nights, despite several trips to reception and asking to swap rooms, where we were offered another room for one night in exchange for a 30EURO supplement. And where using Booking.com was a great help in intervening. I contacted them to request cancellation of the second night, and while this was not possible, they intervened on our behalf, and all of a sudden, a room with a window was available for both nights, at 15EURO upgrade fee per night.
