This is a great value for money hotel which is why even though I suggest a couple of improvements I would still give it 5 stars. Check-in: we arrived early so room wasn’t ready. Reception stored our luggage securely and we were able to hire towels so we could enjoy the pool area. Room: very clean & tidy with a decent sized balcony overlooking the pool. For 2 adults & 2 children it could do with a little more storage but we were able to store cases under the bed and on the balcony so no big deal. We had one issue with the shower overflowing which was dealt with within 30mins. We thought that being next to the lift/stairs it would be noisy but we didn’t hear a thing and slept really well. Pool: We loved that the pool didn’t open until 10am so sunbeds couldn’t be reserved at silly O Clock. We always managed to get a sunbed in the sun. We want to mention the man who looked after the pool area, we watched him from our balcony every morning & night thoroughly cleaning the area and putting the sunbeds back in perfect lines, he clearly took pride in his work and made sure the area was super clean, tidy and safe. There is a pool bar serving food, ice creams and lovely cold Amstel beer, which I enjoyed, but the girls serving could do with putting a smile on their faces. The pool area did close for around 2.5 days for essential maintenance and it was noisy to sit on your balcony of a morning. Although it needed to be done it was an inconvenience as we couldn’t get a subbed at the sister hotel on one of the days so ended up having to pay to go into the water park down the road, the next day however, we did get a bed at the sister hotel over the road, and enjoyed the atmosphere over there. A key tip to give families is that they only allow very small inflatables in the pool. The hotel really needs to inform you of this before you travel or on book in as we spent €30 on a doughnut for my little girl and she was really excited, only for the lifeguard to rudely tell her she couldn’t have it. She was very upset & disappointed. Food; the food was really excellent, and the chefs were friendly. You would have to be stupidly fussy not to find something you liked. Loads of variety and something different on the buffet selection every night but always home made pizza, pasta & chips for the not so adventurous. The female staff in the restaurant could be friendlier but I understand their frustration when so many families were wasting food by getting so much more than they could eat, and leaving their tables & floor in such a mess when they left. Breakfast always offered freshly cooked pancakes, fried eggs, omelettes and toasties at the show cooking stations. As well as cooked produce, salad, pastries & continental offerings, it really was a great selection. Bar/entertainment: the entertainment team made it look effortless to include everyone. My daughters loved joining in with the darts & bingo, and the shows in the evenings that we caught looked fun. There are plenty of pool tables and I would like to say the bald man in the bar was great, he was always happy and efficient and really seemed to take pride in his work. Resort; Salou itself is not very cultural, think Skegness in the sun. However, we enjoyed 3.5 days in the theme parks which are a short walk away and Port Aventura has loads of rides. It’s a short bus away from Tarragona and Cambrils if you want more culture. May is a great time to go as it’s not too busy, but the sun is out.

Rooms and basic and clean, as you'd hope in a three star hotel. The pool was a little cool, but in May, perhaps what you'd expect. However during our stay, the pool was closed for two days, the day before and after we were expected to put up with the dusty drilling of the tiles around the pool. We were directed to another hotel across the road, another from the same group, which was much better in terms of temperature but with two hotels using the one pool, very crowded. Was very disappointing. The food was lovely. I'm coeliac and each time I arrived and asked for gluten free food, I was given a run down of all the food on offer and what was safe for me and what wasn't. I was provided with gluten free toasts, cereals, muffins and separately cooked chips and pasta. Ibrahim and his team really made me feel secure.

“First time in Salou”

Returned home yesterday after a 7 night stay, our first time in Salou and any of the Ohtels brand. Our check in was very prompt and the reception staff were very friendly, informative and catered well to any of our requests regarding kettle, cot hire and pool view etc. my only suggestion would be to relook at the policy for cot hire deposits being returned. When checking out we returned kettle and reminded we also needed our deposit for cot too so much we obviously weren’t able to bring down from room which meant the reception team were trying to contact someone to check cot in room whilst also dealing with a huge line of guests trying to check in. This seemed to make things a bit difficult not only for us waiting around but also for the reception team too who do their job so well and this seems a little unnecessary if something else could be figured out. The rooms are 2 double beds with small night stands either side which works totally fine with having the balcony available to sit on in the sunshine. The shower room along with rest of the room is very modern. My only constructive criticism is that the storage isn’t suitable for a family of 4 and perhaps some more shelf’s added in to the alcoves would make better for unpacking - we lived out of cases this time though as opposed to usually unpacking and it was okay for a week but would of been a bit of a hassle if had been for 2 weeks etc. For the first 2 days of our holiday we were worried when first looking out our balcony to a large hole being dug at the pool and it being closed for 2 days - these things happen and are outwith the hotels control to a certain extent but unfortunately it meant a very loud couple of days on the balcony and an early wake up call to drilling. Food was as you’d expect for a 3 star buffet style meal, always something for us to eat and for what you’d expect. My only suggestion would be adding things like chicken dippers/nuggets and a sweets section etc for children, had this at other chain hotels of the same rating and made life easier at meal times with small children. I personally found food and staff in dining hall lovely for myself though. We never went down to the evening entertainment as it was too late for us with mini disco at 9pm and rest from 10pm onwards. If it were slightly earlier (even 8pm it’d make a big difference to many families as there were a few in the same position). Otherwise from what I could see on our last night, when entertainment moved outside, it looks fun and full of energy and great for the whole family. I’d recommend ear plugs if you have a pool view but again it’s a holiday and there’s bound to be noise and entertainment so just a suggestion to bring ear plugs to adapt for light sleepers. Overall a lovely first time in Salou for our family and would recommend to families to go and have a great time.

“A good weeks stay, clean rooms, good food and great animation team!”

Just had a week with our family and friends at Ohtels Belvedere. For what we paid couldn’t fault it. Food was absolutely fine always something to try be it on the grill or just the standard buffet area, breakfast was good, fresh omelettes, fried eggs, scrambled eggs sausage, bacon, mushrooms. Toast already done so no queuing up whilst you put bread through the toaster. Had to Que for the coffee/tea machine though as only 2 of them. Fresh pasta and pizzas great for the kids at tea time. Rooms were nice and clean, great shower and the aircon worked great too. Hotel is really well located just away from the main hustle and bustle, only 10 mins walk and you are at the seafront promenade which is lovely. Have to say the animation team were brilliant, activities throughout out the day both for the kids and grownups. Raul and Daniel really do a fantastic job and they are brilliant with the kids. Only downside during our stay was that the pool had to close for 3 days for maintenance, this wasn’t mentioned prior, the hotel did grant us access to the ohtels villa romana directly across the road however it was very busy with guests of both hotels around the same pool. Also we had a late pick up (6pm) so we got a late check out from our room for €16 which was well worth it otherwise we’d be out of the room for 10am, only problem was they weren’t going to let us in for lunch even though we still had our room but after a brief chat with reception they let us in so beware if you are on a late pick up.. All in all I’d definitely recommend Ohtels Belvedere and we had a great week away.
