“Excellent Hotel, great location, great staff and dining.”

We stayed at this hotel while traveling with our Gate 1 Travel tour of Northern Spain and Southern France. The hotel had spacious rooms with a great breakfast including a special order cook for egg dishes. Also, we found the staff to be very helpful for assisting us on issues like locating a tour office (for tour after the Gate 1 tour ended) as well as assisting us with a problem with our airline flight booking. They provided us with fantastic box breakfasts for us to take with us to the airport (for an early morning flight). Also, we did order some great room service for a reasonable cost. The hotel is located in a nice area of the city.

Good hotel in a convenient location. The staff at this hotel are excellent. They worked hard to answer any questions or provide anything we needed. I highly recommend booking a room that includes "The Level". It was very nice to have access to drinks and snacks all day with breakfast and evening food/cocktails included. The staff at the Level go out of their way to make your stay a 5 star experience. Our only suggestion is to do something to the shower floor. Ours was very slippery and there were no grab bars so it was easy to fall.

“Great experience at the Melia Level but nothing else!”

We stayed in the Melia level rooms. Whilst the level food and beverage area was superb the rooms were tiny and unbearably hot. We asked for the air con to be turned on but they said the hotel was still in winter mode. With the sun beating on the glass windows, each day we returned from sight seeing the rooms were 30 degrees! Sweltering and unhealthy! My family and I had a permanent headache the whole of our stay and didn't feel refreshed. The actual room was tiny - far too many doors. Could barely move as lots of furniture too. The pool situation is not great at all - you have to book a slot and you get minimal time. The excuse was that the pool and spa isn't owned by the hotel. Needs to be made a lot clearer upon booking. The reception staff and door man were extremely moody and rude. No nice welcome! The only nice welcome we got was from the staff on the melia level who were lovely and always greeted us with a smile. The last straw was the fact my husband got stuck in the lift on our last day. Our friends who were also staying at the hotel had to take our children to the airport for the flight home whilst I stayed behind waiting for my husband to be rescued from the lift. He was stuck for over 45 minutes - the emergency intercom didn't work properly and if he hadn't had his mobile on him he would have been stuck for a much longer time! The hotel management didn't care in the slightest and if took a few attempts to make them pay for our extra taxi to Madrid airport. Not one apology at all! They actually shouted at us as my husband suffers from anxiety and was very affected by the whole situation. Arrogant and rude staff is all I can say!
