My wife and I arrived very late at night and we were greeted by Manuel at reception. He was a very helpful and pleasant man. The room we were allocated was very small but he said we could change rooms the next day which we did(for a bigger room). With a balcony. The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was across the square and was basic but was fine for us. The reason for our trip was our wedding anniversary and we stayed for 5 nights. We felt that nothing was too much trouble for Manuel, he was always pleasant. We had a problem with our shower and it was fixed the next day. The hotel was basic but we had what we paid for and it was good enough for us. The hotel location was perfect as it was central to everything with bars and restaurants no more than a 2 minute walk away. But if your looking for a cheap place to eat and drink or shopping maybe it’s not the place for you. The only downside to our trip was the amount of German holidaymakers and everything was catered more for them than anyone else and everywhere we went it was obvious they were preferred than we were. (I am welsh and my wife is Portuguese). We would return to the hotel and we loved the location and Manuel was the only person who treated everyone the same, regardless of nationality.

The hotel is basic, but it doesn't claim to be anything else, we arrived about midday on Thursday, we had hoped to get a room with a balcony but none available, Manuel the manager said he'd try to get us one on the Sunday. Our room was small but it had a shower and aircon (with the temp in the 40's it was needed). Breakfast was served in the tavern across the square, always served by a lovely Spanish lady. Yes they always assume you are German at first but that wasn't a problem. It was nice to somewhere and not be surrounded by English people and English bars ( if that's what you want go to Blackpool). We did get a room change on the Sunday unfortunately not with a balcony just a larger room. Loads of bars and restaurants around the harbour. We did our best to try them all. The Royal, we had to book a table if we wanted to sit outside. It is a very popular place the food was fine but as it's popular it's also very busy and the staff are forever rushing around, doesn't make for a relaxing meal. The bookings are before 7 or after 9. Take the later booking or be prepared to rush your meal. Ses Anchor (opposite the Royal) was an excellent restaurant but the best meal we had and we went back for a second night was the Steak House just outside the Hotel on the left, best steak I've ever eaten Staff very friendly and very helpful when it came to choosing wine. I would choose this hotel again but I would make sure I had a room with a balcony

OK, so if you're expecting 5 star forget it. The room is basic but clean, it has a flat screen TV a hot shower, air conditioning and a toilet that actually works (I've stayed in hotels where the toilet is impossible to flush). It is clean and housekeeping visit every day. The room is decorated in a minimalistic modern style and is clean. so is the bathroom. The beds are very comfortable. At times during the day the drains can smell a bit but nothing a good squirt of air freshener doesn't sort out. Wifi in the hotel is good and does work across the square at the local bar as I made a whatsapp call home with no problem. Manuel at reception is friendly, helpful and obliging and is one of the most pleasant individuals you could hope to meet. Cala Ratjada is very German oriented but is very pleasant and the staff in the bars and restaurants are extremely friendly (be warned that food and drink is not the cheapest, but is excellent quality on the whole). There is a little shop run by a very friendly Belgian man where you can book boat trips to other parts of the Island (take your swimming things as they let you swim off the boat on route). The walk to the lighthouse is good with great views when you get there and also Cala Gat beach is nice with a nice beach bar where you can chill out, although is high season I would imagine that this is extremely busy. We had a room with a balcony which overlooked the square which at times could be noisy, especially Saturday evening where there was a Karaoke event for the Germans which did go on until after 3 am which some very drunk Germans after it, so just bear this in mind if you request one of these rooms., and this was very noisy. The hotel was good to use as a base as it is well placed near the town and port, but is you're looking form luxury and good hotel facilities then look elsewhere, these are at the other end of the seafront and you'll pay a premium. For the price we paid this hotel was fine.
