“5* Luxury”

A beautiful 5* hotel in a fantastic location next to the promenade walk in Meloneras. Staff were amazing and always very attentive. The hotel is well designed and immaculately maintained. We couldn’t fault anything. Very highly recommended and if you stay here are in for a real treat!

Stayed at the VDC around 20 times now since it opened. There have been some changes over the years and feel these have not been for the better in all cases. I love the location and the gorgeous walk along the promenade to the centre. I have stayed at the other lopesans in the resort too but always come back to VDC based on its location and peaceful vibes. The hotel is always exceptionally clean and we always book a suite which means we have the added bonus of unique. However I feel the hotel was better when unique was not an option. My daughter stays in a regular room now she’s older (she’s been going with us since a baby and also come regularly now as a solo guest too) and feel her experience isn’t five star due to the fact she can’t sunbathe in all areas and she doesn’t have a kettle etc in the room. If we wanted to sit together I had to forgo the unique experience. Sunbeds are not padded in areas that are not unique so less comfortable etc too . We stay in many five star resorts in other countries and the basics are just not there at the VDC unless you book unique. The pillows are not the best and feel you get a better five star experience in other countries. The suites we have stayed in have not been updated in 20 years. My daughter’s standard room has the new lighter flooring, updated with usb ports, leather sofa etc. My suite now feels dark and dingy and the old flowery sofa was very dusty/fusty and smelly. Every year we say when we return the suites will have been updated but hasn’t happened yet and is disappointing. These rooms desperately need bringing into 2024. The only other negative was the attitude I had from reception staff. I spoke to one colleague on reception Kirsty twice for different things. Money exchange and on check out and found her demeanour passive aggressive, unhelpful and patronising. I had another similar conversation with another female receptionist and just feel it wasn’t a translation issue and was a generally poor effort customer service wise especially as I am a regular to the hotel. All in all it’s still my favourite hotel In the area but really hope that the improvements to suites are made before we next return. Many clients I spoke to had a similar opinion so I do believe this should be priority

“A lovely family break”

We returned on the 3rd June from a lovely break at Villa de conde. 2 adults & a 1 year old. We went bed & breakfast wanting to take advantage of all the wonderful restaurants near by and was not disappointed with our decision. Breakfast at the hotel was to an excellent standard. Something for everyone. The huge Nutella pump was something we’ve never seen before & we loved the fresh honeycomb on offer over the weekend. The restaurant staff were all lovely & welcoming. The service was exactly what I’d expect in a large 5* hotel. It was very busy for a few days of our stay with it being Canaries day but the staff coped excellently. The pool areas were all beautiful. Pre-baby we would have spent our days round the quiet pool which was beautiful but our 1 year olds is pretty chatty so we opted for the 2 bottom pools instead. I love the added touch of the fake beach. The pools were a little too fresh at times but later into the day they warmed up beautifully. I’m sure in high season they would be warm pretty early on. We didn’t use the pool bar very much but I did have a mojito which was a little disappointing for its 9.50 euro price tag & my husband said the beer quality wasn’t amazing either so didn’t really bother with that again. We’re not big drinkers anyway so just kept to water in the daytime bought from the nearby supermarkets. The grounds around the hotel are beautifully kept & very interesting with the signs explaining what certain trees/plants are & where they are from. We did lots of walking around the grounds behind our explorative 1 year old. Mini club is for age 4+ however as it was quiet they did allow us to go in with our daughter for her to play with the other children and try the crafts. We watched the magic show which was a little underwhelming we didn’t watch any other shows due to them starting being past baby’s bed time but we could hear the singers from our balcony who all sounded great. We didn’t participate in any of the activities but the animators weren’t pushing them like we’ve had in other hotels which was a refreshing change. The kids park area could do with a refurb and the kids pool is very underwhelming. Just a plain rectangle pool nothing fun for the kids at all. The standard room was beautiful. Very big in comparison to other 5* hotels we’ve stayed in. Loved the walk in wardrobe, the separate bath & shower was brilliant for us with a baby too, the lopesan fish teddy was a nice little touch in the baby cot too. We had a lovely large Terrace in a quiet area with a sea view if you look to the left too. The fridge is a little on the small size & makes an awful whooshing noise so we ended up turning it off because it was disturbing our sleep. The cleaners did a good job however we were a little disappointed to find a brand new unopened bottle of calpol disappeared from our room also our baby/toddler reins. The reins could have been accidentally left elsewhere although we’re almost certain they weren’t as we normally took her in the pram outside of the hotel but the calpol never left the room. It is a little sad that what can only be assumed is a cleaner felt the need to take that. We only noticed when looking for it on our last night when my daughter started with a cough & a little fever in the night. We didn’t want to say anything at the time just incase it turned up but now that all bags are unpacked we’re certain it was taken from our room. Overall we had a wonderful holiday. Despite the above we definitely would return however we’re not the kind of people to visit the same place twice but if we ever do Meloneras again villa de conde or the the other lopesan hotels in the area would definitely be our choice.

“New changes are a negative!! Too many petty rules.”

Hi, We have just finished another great holiday in this hotel, think this was our 11th visit. The hotel is as beautiful as ever but unfortunately this year the management have imposed changes that are spoiling this hotel, and turning it to a 4 star instead on the 5 star status that this hotel has been in the past. • pool towel service is now only available 3 days per week, it was always daily. • all entertainment finished at 10.30, in the past it was until midnight with a resident band or music. • you could not take wine from the restaurant into the patio square area after your meal, the restaurant manager chased after us to tell us off like school children!! • after breakfast you were not allowed to take a coffee or glass of Cava into the patio square as in previous years, this seems petty and unnecessary. Funny that you can buy a coffee in the same area. • standard of the food was no where near as good as in the past. Meals were repetitive, and the deserts were very basic, ice cream, cookies and fruit which was tinned !!!! No chocolate fountains, no fancy cakes. • breakfast finished at 10.30, in the past it was 11.00. They cleared up very quickly and stopped putting fresh food out at 10.15. • no loyalty or recognition that we were repeat guests, you would think after 11 visits they would value our custom even if it was a bowl of fruit or bottle of wine in the room. Unfortunately and may be deliberately Lopesan are lowering the standards of this hotel. We spoke to other guests and they said the same. We also mentioned all this to the hotel Customer Care person and she said it was a common complaint and she was very sympathetic to our points. Such a shame, but like most good things, they all come to an end at some point. Hope they realise this and go back to the high standards of the past.
