We had a pleasant stay at Imperial Tokyo. We arrive by Shinkansen from Tokyo station and walked to the hotel. Not a very long walk but also not a very short walk especially with luggage on tow. We left by taking the taxi to Tokyo station. Taxi is the better option but the fares are quite hefty for a short ride. The hotel do not provide a detail walking route from Tokyo station to the hotel but we find that if you are walking in the right general direction you'll be fine. Get above ground though so that you can see where you are headed. There is a subway station nearby to take the metro but again must use the right exits to save a lot of unnecessary steps. I would say the location is good but not excellent. It is very close to Ginza if it is your target. The rooms are not very spacious but this is Tokyo standard. They are pleasant but not top grade. It commensurate with the price paid in Tokyo. The absence of a standing shower is of particular note. The shower gel and shampoo is in packet and not bottle form. First time i encountered this and found it inconvenient to use. We stayed in the tower rooms which is quite a distance from the main lobby. This is not a concern though after check in as there are other entrances to the hotel nearer the tower building. We were unable to secure connecting rooms and had to settle for adjacent rooms. Would not be convenient for families with young kids. They offer breakfast in four locations. We tried the buffet breakfast which we find to be very good. Big spread with good quality food. We had the sit down American breakfast as well and found it to be very nice especially the pastries. Service is good and staff are attentive. They don't seem to have evening turn down service though. Overall a nice pleasant hotel which commensurate with the price. Staying here does bring with it a certain nice nostalgia. It is good enough for us to think of returning.

I have had the privilege of staying in some of the worlds most famous hotels and ever since I wondered through The Imperial’s lobby many years ago I have looked forward to a stay here. Finally made it and I wasn’t disappointed! The lobby is large, bright and busy as always with crisp service and an impressive check in. After being escorted to our room (no dragging your luggage yourself here), I went exploring the hotel. The architecture says “old school grand hotel” and FLW is everywhere. Multiple restaurants and the inviting Old Imperial Bar confidently signal established, storied place of tradition and grace. There’s no gimmicks or fads, attempts to be hip and definitely no do it yourself modernity. Our room was in the tower and it was spacious, well appointed, with good wifi, lots of power plugs and a great bathroom with the best toiletries (brushes, toothbrushes, razors and shaving cream, shower caps, etc), plenty of thick towels and endless hot water. There are even pajamas and slippers. I could go into much more details but I will summarize by saying, if you enjoy the atmosphere and service of grand hotels from the mid twentieth century, then The Imperial will please you immensely. Located in Ginza, great for shopping, restaurants and transit.

If you need the most up to date bling hotel, don't bother. If you want the best unobtrusive completely old schood service, this is the place to be. This is a complete throw back to an older style and it suited our family well. They shipped our bags, sorted some room changes and even helped with some small medical issues quickly and efficently. The staff are great, breakfast is just what you need and I love circa 70s style bar. Drinks- btw- proper and awesome. If that is what you are looking for, stay here. If you want your hotel to be like any other high end place anywhere else, there are many option.s.

Imperial Hotel has always been our preferred location to stay while visiting Tokyo! Their service has been consistently great! We will definitely come back!
