“Relaxing retreat in idyllic setting; great for after busy day of Touring!”

This hotel is like an oasis in a bustling city. . . provides a nice retreat after a busy day of touring Stockholm. Travel agent felt it might be "inconvenient" in its location . . but we did not find that at all . . very easy to get to/from this little island to all the attractions - very short ferry ride to Djurgarden and also Gamla Stan. Room was spacious . . .and set up for us traveling with our adult son. It has been hot during our stay . . our room was comfortable and slept very well . .but felt a little "stuffy" at times. Again not horrible but a little stuffy. Breakfast delicious. Dinner also delicious - but limited menu. One thing to note is that if tired after a long day of touring you may want more dinner options after your first night. . and that was a little inconvenient if you didn't want to go out. But again - restaurant delicous and OK to eat from limited menu for 3 night stay (ate here twice). Staff super friendly and helpful. Park like setting so relaxing! One oddity. . our TV did not have a remote . .so we couldn't figure out how to turn it off? We cast from our phones if we wanted to watch something . .but couldn't turn up the volume loud enough so could here it. We weren't watching much TV of course. .so didn't even mention to staff. . but one odd thing to mention. The bathroom is well appointed with everything you need - great shower and toiletries. Hotel even had toothpaste for us when we ran out. Our room was freshened everyday. Did I mention we were give a box of delicious carmels upon arrival. This hotel was a great choice for 3 nights while exploring Stockholm!

“Beautiful with lots of Buts….”

Pros: Gorgeous setting close to, but away from the main part of city with easy access to ferry and bus. Historic and renovated. Pros: Gorgeous setting close to, but away from the main part of city with easy access to ferry and bus. Historic and renovated. Cons: Accessible room (which was neither requested nor told the issues) was poorly designed in the bathroom. Shower water drenched the floor causing you to in huge puddle of water. Sink has poor design so that water can come on floor. Breakfast buffet, while delicious, was very poorly planned and stiflingly overcrowded. Like a convention came to the hotel. People crowded around and hovering over table of food. Table should have been spread out into other room so guests could breath. For our very early day of departure, we had pre-ordered a breakfast at a specific time and confirmed details multiple times including before heading to bed the night before At check out no one was there for 15 minutes, they did arrive we were told no one told me you needed breakfast.” While the team is very nice, including the manager, there are a-lot of loose ends and flaws without important details being properly thought out, despite being a beautiful hotel.

Skeppsholem is a little island a short walk over a bridge to Stockholm’s bustling old town and city center. Good location. The island was previously only available to military operations, but now is a great walking and boating area open to the public. The hotel has been renovated from army barracks. The location is beautiful. You can dine on the patio and look out toward the water. The included breakfast buffet is terrific, as was the dining room for dinner later in the day. Hotel staff was very nice. The downsides are several: room itself was quite spartan for the price, with the weirdest bathroom sink I’ve ever seen. No coffee in the room, which for nearly $500 US a night is not good. The “tiny” gym is not really a gym at all—like an extra closet with a stack of weights and one treadmill—one person at a time. Parking for a car is a pain, required by a horribly confusing app. So overall, a nice hotel but some improvements needed and very pricey for what you get.
